Xfi -2 is way overdue.....
Might be a noob question, 
but....I use My Sennheiser USB headphones for gaming, if I bought either of these and plug my Headphones into the USB socket, will I get the benefit ?
As it looks like you have to directly plug in headphones to these sound cards to ge the full quality ??

you got it right. usb headphones are basically usb soundcards, so anything like an xfi or xonar wouldnt be used at all.
