No, but mouse is crap. Even with a wired x box controller, everything is much better. Joysticks are worth it, you don't need to send huge amounts, £50 can get you a second hand X52 if you really want to get into it.
If you have a smartphone, then you can probably use tha (i know you can with iPhone, not sure about android)
Anyway, controller of some kind is advisable.
try using a mouse with crosswind and turbulence
Is X plane GPU/CPU dependant?

Mostly CPU bound. For the GPU, the more VRAM the better

Just on the demo now, how can you use the cockpit like you can in Flight Sim? All I manage to get is the HUD and a 1/4 working cockpit.... hardly realistic. (Hoping someone proves me wrong here) Some of the jets are also very low detail, assume its because its a demo??

Click on view (at the top) and you can select a number of forward views including using the mouse(in my case) to look around the cockpit, or just have a forward view without anything but a HUD etc.

Been playing, its OK... but I prefer FS... probably biased as I've used them since the 95 version but prefer it.
Seems a bit half-done with the added, non realistic airplanes? Some reason making me not take it serious enough, just as if its a game with a few 3rd party mods added on? Anyone know if the details are full in the full game? Such as the harrier, sr71 the cockpits are non functional apart from 1-2 buttons just wondered if its all working in the full version of the game?

The game for me is awfull cannot get it anywhere near looking like the videos with a decent frame rate. The controls are all over the place but this is more than likely a setup issue. I gave up on it but might re-install and give it another go although I no longer have the 7970...

Guys havin problems - I've had a look at some YouTube videos comparing it to FSX and x plane has generally better graphics and scenery. If I recall correctly, one of the videos was using a GTX560Ti and i7 930 that got excellent graphics.
X plane seems to have a lot more high quality free ads ons for aircraft, maybe try some of those?
