** X-Plane 10 - The only new flight simulator in five years **

Extract from the forum...

With several versions of X-Plane 10 it might sound a bit complex but it really is not. Let us explain:

  • Released early December: X-Plane 10 directly by Laminar Research
  • Release before Christmas: X-Plane 10: US Community Edition by Aerosoft. This will be the complete X-Plane 10, fully updated, enhanced with three high detailed European airports (Nice, Paderborn and Faro), three medium density airports and some more low density airports. This version will be in English and German and will come in a deluxe metal box. The price for this version will be € 69.95 (inc VAT) and can be ordered from our online store. If you wonder, we call this the US Community because the demand came mostly from that side.
  • Release early next year: X-Plane 10: Global Edition. This will be the complete release by Laminar research and Aerosoft that includes all what is in the US Community Edition plus all the other stuff we can add before that time.

After this release all will be merged into one version and the content we add will be included into the version shipped by Laminar Research. From that moment on there will only be one version of X-Plane 10. At that moment all registered users will have free access to all the content we will add using the standard update functionality of X-Plane

If its not in the box, I'm assuming you will still get it via an update.

Beta 7 for 10.04 (prior to the 10.04 RC 1) included...

For users with the X-Plane 10 Global DVD, you will get Aerosoft's European airports if you install scenery for those areas, or if you update and have those areas already installed.

Shame.

Do not understand why nobody has implemented this yet.

Would be great fun flying with a friend to another country as pilot/co-pilot co-op online.

The only flying game that you will beable to do this is MS Flight.
I guess it will be when they start to add jets & more of the world ect in a year or so.

Ok played the demo and sold on this. I love the other one with its visualisations but being limited to Switzerland is a big negative for me.

Because it is lame idea , only one could control at any one time unless
you want to be fighting for control of the stick with your mate across the internet? or it would just be boring as hell

StonedPenguin Is there a new MS flight sim coming anytime soon?
Yes there is a new version but it is like an "arcade flight" experience
they have even removed simulator from the name

You can do cockpit sharing in FSX as standard, there was a paid for add-on that provided this functionality for FS9. The CIX VFR guys use this all the time for pilot training. Not sure if all 3rd party add-on aircraft are compatible though.

In what way is it different from real world? You can both grab the stick at the same time and fight each other. I have a feeling with the FSX implementation the master gives control to the second pilot and at no time both have control of the yoke/stick/pedals.

The FSX implementation is TERRIBLE.

If I remember correctly, the other person is merely a spectator.

What is wrong with having a pilot/co-pilot with different tasks being delegated :)

I Love flight sims however 43 pound is a bit steep. Was gonna treat myself to me3 on Friday but will see if the demo for this is any good.
