patched to latest version?

Updated to 1.2.01? That fixed performance issues for me.

Now got 5x universe traders in mercuries, making me a lot of money (at least 1 million an hour). I may have to buy some busters to protect them as pirates are starting to attack them in Teladi space, else I may have to clean out Teladi space (their police seem to be rubbish!).

My tip, leave X3 on overnight (and overday whilst you're at work) with universe traders going, they may have stopped due to problems, but you'll still make lots of money. Starting a production complex now, found a nice silicon asteroid in ore belt to build it around!.

Never studied the prices that closely. Try docking and see what price you get before and after repairs. Will be nice to know.

Dont know if anyone has found any of the free ships around the place. Always look on your sector map for ships without a race and go claim it. Just be wary of the mamba raider as that sector has squash mines all around it.

I haven't tested this fully but, I have removed a mineral scanner from one of my conquests, and some moeny was deducted from the resale value of the ship, didn't check on how much though.
When ever I've repaired a damaged ship, the amount added on to the value of the ship is less than the cost of repair. I haven't checked that with all species though, but it's the case with the one I did try (Argon I think) so assumed it would be the same for them all.

You can repair ships 1% at a time so you can always test the water so to speak.

Yup updated it and its still laggy.. I still played it though for a few hours, im all confused as to where to start, i dont have a clue what to do, any tips?

If it's anything like X2, sitting in a space-station for hours doing nothing will kill your combat ranking. You need to get kills regularly to advance.

huh dated 7800 and opteron.

Its running in the 30's with everything on high at 1024 on my xp2500 @2.2 with an agp 6600gt. so yours should be fine.

Hey guys, got this yesterday, brilliant so far, a little bit confused as to what im doing, fight pirates is harder than i thought lol.....but the thing that confuses me more, is there is no apperant controller setup for my Joystick (x52), which actually i need to see what buttons are what and remap them, but for the life of me i cant find anything at all....any help?

right ive got up to page 28 on the technical part of X3 forums, and read all 6 pages, and yet no sign of the profile you mentioned.

Edit....saw loads of profiles for the X42 not the X52 though, looks like im gonna buy a new stick unless i can find a profile or something to help me change the mapped button, as i cant be bothered with keyboard and mouse controls.

Also, in the options part of the ingame, i only have video and audio, shouldnt there be controls?

see the manual page 8, you need to have a game started to get to the options that allows you to get to the controls.

who-ever thought of that idea needs shooting, under graphics there will be a few more options that where not on the main menu's graphic options!!

yup found it after searching the manual, its a very strange way to configure the controls, but i think its for the best, as it allows you to test the buttons on the fly, so you know exactly what you doing.....thanks for the help but all sorted :D now i need to figure out how to play, as ive never played the X series before.

Seriously?!

I get high-20s to low-30s for the most part in the middle of the busy sectors (eg argon prime). I get that at any resolution, the game being almost entirely CPU limited.

That's with a 2.9Ghz Opteron 146, and it scales virtually linearly with clockspeed. The fact that you're getting the same/better with an AXP... odd... Did you do anything particular to it to help improve performance?

Yes, I have the latest patch (1.2.01)

USB sound not mobo. and removed media players. I'll check out argon prime later on and see what i get. i was showing people the difference between the HUD being on and off and the difference that running in SETA adds.

hey guys, just wondering, what game mode should i choose, im confused with the first 2 on the list, both sound the same, but one is average one is easy, all very confusing, maybe i bought the wrong game for me.

Normal is average, quick star is easy and X-Treme is hard.

Saying that all it effects is what you start with, so I went X-Treme, the starting ship was still good enough to capture a few of the ships on the second (or third or whatever it was) mission, thus making me a few hundred k. I took some weapons left on a ship and used them, thus enablingme tocapturemore pirates etc.

what are the controls like on the game? similiar to x2? aka you need to use about 100 keys and a joystick to play? or is it playable with a mouse?

Playable with a mouse. You can control your ship with it and navigate through menu's too. I'm currently doing a fuel run, i forgot which sector, but its dead easy money :p

Only just got this game and seems really complicated. I started as an explorer because I liked the fast ship that you start with to map out the sectors quickly but now I'm stumped on how I can make any money to buy a bigger ship to start trading, not that I know where to buy a bigger ship or anything. The hold on my explorer ship is pitifully small so it would take ages to make any money trading. Wondering if I should start again as a trader as I found the couple of storyline missions that I played to be annoying.
