X1 Solar Flare hitting earth 30th/31st - Possible northern lights

Had kKP 6.66 last night here but was foggy AF cos we live near so near a lake.... Couldn't be assed going for a big walk to escape it.

never mind, next time :p

So we get done with Covid, we sort of agree how to fix climate change or at least stop making it worse and then the Sun says YOLO CME's all day everyday
Suns just waking from its slumber, we are coming out of the suns solar minimum. The sun goes through ~11 year cycles. CME's are nothing out of the ordinary, however we are overdue a big one (look up Carrington event).

Saw some fantastic pictures on BBC Breakfast of last nights display but it was raining here as usual. It's supposed to be another good night for Aurora's tonight and there is a chance it will be clear here. What is the best time to look?

my Aurorawatch app on the phone was buzzing most of the night - so much so i had to disable notifications! might book tomorrow of work and sit up tonight.

Meant to be the biggest solar storm hitting earth in decades at 10.50pm tonight so potential to be even better than last night.........or not.

Thats the problem you just cant tell. 9pm was good last night but unexpectedly 1pm was even better.

Mine too actually - I installed it just a few weeks ago before a trip to Tromso :)

Fortunate I did get a lights show whilst there, however would have been great to see this :) (No regrets though, I will be going again :) )

i hate you - that's a dream of mine to visit somewhere like Tromso. :(:p

It was on our bucket list for a while, after Covid - we thought why not (we even got a kid free 5 nights there). Should I share photos? ;) :D

What's stopping you? :) Anything is possible, doesn't have to be a dream :)

PS. The floating sauna in the harbour, with a dip into the Artic Sea (around 5c temp) is also something I'd recommend. Sounds horrible, but after doing it (in and out of the water/sauna a few times), I now know why its very popular - was a great way to start the morning :)

Ive got zero cloud coverage tonight :P

first time in weeks, so im gonna persuade the GF to take a walk when it gets dark. If anythings going on still ill get some pics.
If i cant see it here then meh!
