When ive been playing games as of late, my gfx card seems to be resetting itself. The screen will go black and after say 5 seconds, the fan will start itself up again, much like when you first turn on the computer. I was wondering if anyone knows anything that could help. The temps also seem to be fine-ish, for an ATI that is (50c). The rest of my system is:

3700+(Stock)
1gb corsair XMS
460w Thermeltake PurePower.

oh ya, ive OC'd abit in the past, but that was using the optimal settings in CC, but it is now at stock.

hmm never heard of this before i wwas going to say over heating untill you mentioned temps were fine soo my secod guess is a power problem. whats the rest of your spec and yoru psu is is it old or new ?

The rest is an Asus A8V-E SE Motherboard, uhm thats about it.. the whole setup, itself is around 8 months old.

You all think a new PSU might be in order, as its started doing it with BF2142 now, which is getting annoying. I will give it a good clean out too, aswell as the case. Anyone have any other idea's? :)

I get the same problem with my spec in sig, only got a 450w psu also. Have been questioning whether or not to get an enermax liberty or not

Maybe you could try reinstalling chipset & Ati drivers, your power supply should be fine. my card runs @ 50-53 @ stock.

It was ok, I reformatted comp and everything worked fine for the first week, then this just started happening. I will try reinstall the drivers when I get home, hell I might aswell try the 6.12 beta's.. whats the worst that could happen lol.

Oh ok and its just when playing games then, i take it that you have checked all power connections including the Gcard? + just to check that the power cable running the card isn't shared with anything else (like a dvd drive or something. does the system restart when you get a black screen?

The system doesnt restart, no. The screen will go black and nothing will work for about 10 seconds, then the fan will spin (like it does when the comp starts up) then I will regain control of my system. I will re-check all the cables and reinstall drivers etc, when im home. Its just happened after a format and nothing was changed, hence I was abit stumped.

This is a bit of a strange problem, i take it that you have reseated the card itself? i dont suppose you can test the card in another PC?

No sorry, I dont have another computer, that I could test it on. I will update my situation once im home from work(only another 40mins to go  ).
Thanks so far.

/Update. Well It seems its ok now, I just cleaned out the case, moved a few cables and havent seen the dreaded black screen since... lets hope it holds up.

m running my sig with 1.45 volts in CPU clock to 2.9 and thats only one a 400w antec PSU so no probs with power and i also get this when i overclock my card to far.

Its started doing it again, yet this time, im starting to get some artifacts in game, even at stock settings. Anyone know the warranty on these cards?

I believe it was the Connect3d one from ocuk, although I cant seem to find it on the site anymore. Ive had it for say, 4 months, i think. I'll check once im home again hehe.

Wont be on no more as the x1800's were stopped in January when the x1900's came out, so you won't get another one be an x1950 now, unless they have the odd x1900 kicking about still as they were only stopped when the x1950's came out, either way it will be a manufacturer RMA now, so expect about 7+ weeks wait for a new card whatever it is.:(

I guess it wont get replaced yet, as the artifacts arent bad enough, although I dont have to use my room fan on the side of the case now, to stop it overheating and crashing the comp, which I never had to do before. The case itself has an ok airflow. Just weird how all of a sudden its overheating and crashing the computer. When would be the best sign, to send it back. I do have a spare HiS X1600XT lying around. I guess that will do if its bad enough to send back now.

I cant seem to find the RMA part on the Connect3d site. Should I just ask via the support email first, I guess.
