X1800XT --> ????

I found going from a x1800xt 256 to a x1900xt 512 wasn't a big leap. As said already, 10 fps increase seems about right. Much cooler and quieter though if you go for the HIS.

Aye, sounds about right. I noticed a huge difference going from X1800XT 256MB to X1900XT 512MB but that would be more down to me going from S754 Athlon64 3400+ to Core 2 Duo E6300 @ 3GHz really.

For the uberwin. :D I should also add my 3400+ was OCed to 3900+ speeds, it was an old CPU but definitely no slouch. My E6300 beats it into a quivering and bloody little pile of goo on the floor though.

Just a quick update. Got a Sapphire X1900XT (not OC'd it) but the change is quite striking. Especially in MSFS2004 and GTR where fps start off higher with everything maxxed out and then dont drop as severely on high demand.

I think next upgrade will be conroe then I'll be set!

Thanks for all those that advised!

Depending on your res though, im stuck at 1280x1024 as being on a TFT so theres nothing in it between the x1900 and x1800 there, so going form an x1800 to an x1900 at that res is a waste, where as at 1680x1050 the gap between them would be a lot bigger making the x1900 worth the upgrade, the higher the res, the bigger the gap. :)
