Whelp, got my hands on one of these today, not yet installed, but am I going to see a noticeable increase in Games speed over my 6600 Non-GT Card ?

Can I finally unburden myself from the 'low-end to mainstream' vid card segment and get some decent resolution/FSAA going in my games ?!?

Looking at the card its a bit of a beast .... how do you guys with dual slot cooler Vid cards cope ?

Oh btw, the box for my GT states it has 48 pipelines, lol, not the cutdown 36... hmmmmmm wondering if theres a hidden message there to try and unlock the extra pipes ?! :D

Anyways, must dash off now... comments please on the GT!

Well the X1900GT will just wallop the hell out of a 6600 (which is a really low end card these days - no offence).

For £140 its hard to go wrong with the Connect3D X1900GT for the type of performance you are getting.

As you posted in the other thread, with games getting more shader intensive this should help the performance of the X1900GT & possibly give it the edge over cards like the X1800XT which are slighlty faster in current games, Enjoy :)

BTW some X1900GT cards can be unlocked to X1900XT specs.

Unlocking: Can anyone point me in the right direction for this ?

Anyone know of other people who have done this ?

Any idea of Sucess/Fail/Dead Card rates ?

Edit: I probably won't do this, as if I kill the card, I have to make do with a 2mb ATI 3DRage PCIU card - the 6600 has now gone, lol!

If you want information on unlocking the X1900GT to X1900XT then you want to check here.

It's been done by a few people using Built By ATI and Sapphire X1900GTs, not sure about any others, but it is extremely rare and requires a very specific graphics processing core.

Any idea of Sucess/Fail/Dead Card rates? The failure rate is immense, but I have never heard of a dead card as all you need to do is flash the original BIOS back to the card. So long as you have a floppy disk drive, it should be fine.

I wouldn't really recommend trying it anyway, the chances of having one of the specific batch of cores that it works with are very small. Use the link I posted to find out if you do have one of those cards though.
