Would a x1900xt be ok with the 1920 x 1200 native resolution of the 2407wfp in games like Oblivion and F.E.A.R

I was thinking of either the 24 inch Dell or the 21 inch Samsung SM-215TW due to its lower native res as it may be easier on the card

Not even 2 x1900xts run fear smooth :p
For the most the x1900xt should be fine, bf2/css/dark messiah and company of heroes all run great at native ress and settings maxed.

Have'nt bothered installing oblivion on this p.c so dunno what that runs like, tryed the new fear demo and hacked the ress so it runs native, frames where'nt great but playable, only major lag was in the paint room with the ghosts.

shocky,

what are you on about?

do you have a x1900xt and a 2407??

well i do, and its fine for gaming on at native res,

im playing oblivion with hdr and its all good, world of warcraft, ok not intensive, but very good.

Company of heroes, runs fine.

Bf2 runs ace, but can only get that running at 1600xsummat lol.

in all the card will run it fine mate.

im loving mine

Mine struggles with oblivion and that's at a slightly lower 1920x1080. But with a bit of tweaking practically every other game runs very smoothly including need for speed, cod2 and fear extraction point demo.

Not much cus it won't overclock properly. Only 655mhz on the core and memory won't budge from stock. Raising voltages helps a bit on the core but it's not worth it for the extra 1fps it gives me. :p

A single X1900XT is grand for the vast majority of games at 1920x1200.......even the likes of the more non-GPU limited games like Oblivion..
BUT, if you must have a significant amount of AA/AF in the latest games then you may find a Crossfire setup more helpful at very high res..
Don't get me wrong, an X1900 at XTX speeds is more than enough to drive the Dell but there are exceptions to every rule and maybe down the line, some of the newer titles may like dual-gpu, without even going down the AA route..

FEAR is quite clunky at the best of times anyway.........I wouldn't call it exactly super smooth on my setup either......not sure, but I think that game may like SLI/NVidia anyway (advertised as such anyway)
Not to say it doesn't run well enough on a X1900 single at 1600x1200.,.....just don't expect FarCry smooth..

Actually I was using a X1900XTX and it could'nt cope so bought a 7950GX2 as I wanted my FSAA back.. X1900XTX is now in my older X2 4400+ rig with VX922 (1280*1024)

Oblivion is fine with an X1900XTX at 1280*1024 with 2XAA but not at 1920*1200 so the whole HDR+AA issue is pretty much muted as the X1900XTX isnt fast enough to do both at that resolution anyway.. :p

So don't presume anything, I wouldnt have replied if I had no experience with the hardware in question.

i've just got me self a HP 2335 monitor which is only a tiny 23" compared to the dell but runs a native res of 1920 x 1200.

I was expecting some slow frame rates with my opty 2.6ghz and 1800xt but am truly stunned how the games are playing. Havent really bothered with too much AA cause the res is pin sharp but games like just cause and prey are playing as they did on my old 19" at 1280 x 1024.

So there you go, a recomendation for the 24", it'll be fine
