mark1 said:Yes it will, depending mainly on resolution. At higher resolutions it won't be held back so much but on lower resolutions (1280 or lower) just turn up the settings to make it work harder and reduce the bottlenecking![]()
I *think* it might get a slightly higher fps (haven't got such a good card so i'm trying to think about this logically). If you increase the settings then it will increase the workload for the graphics card and bringing it down to a lower level for the cpu to handle, therefore reducing the load on the cpu, allowing it to process more fps. However i think this only really has this effect when the cpu is running at around 3GHz.Kyo said:Are you saying that if it in lower res and the gfx card settings are set to performance over quality then it will actually not work as well ie average frames could be lower then if the card was set to higher setting ie with details, aa, af ramped up etc?
I play CS and i just set my settings to medium details with no AA and Af etc just to keep max fps up but in reality I get ok fps on maps but i suppose my expectation was a little high.
Could that be a bottleneck. To my shame my Opteron still running at stock which of course could be set a lot higher but i guess i am happy with the performance i get atm. Would perforamnce really be that much better if i clocked my pcu to about 2.6-2.8 rather then default?. On a graphical level?

Try changing the settings in css and see if that happens. Also try overclocking and see how much difference that makes![]()
Yeh, go clock the nads off itKyo said:Been wanting to oc my opteron for ages as the whole point of getting was to get it higher. But sheer laziness and a bit of concern held me back. I have read a lot on how to do it and got some great info from quite a number of posters in this forum and again to my shame i got no exuse
You right i am going to do it soon![]()

CABYE's seem to get quite good overclocks.
nbkpsycho said:i mainly play counter strike source so will there be much difference from an X850 XT to a X1900XT ?? will the game look any better ? or will i just get high fps ??
I play css at 1280 by 1024 (only because this is the highest res my current card can handle at max settings)
Also will my power supply be good enough ??
