Guys, just a quick question - what current and modern card is comparative to my X1900XT512? an 8600? a 7950?

just need to know as a mate is curious.

cheers

How do you mean comparable? As in performance 'on par with', or as in, the latest graphics card, but not quite the best?

Is he looking to upgrade?

well he has a 6800 at the momment and he wants a card that is on par with mine in terms of performance. Im not sure what to recommend as you cant get X1900's anymore.

Don't think its got a modern day comparable card as its faster than both of those, and the next cards up are the GTS's, which are a lot faster the x1900.

One of these - probably about 10% slower than a x1900xt in most things. A decent upgrade from a 6800 for £70ish.

x1950xt 256 (and overclock very easily to most likely 690/1000mhz(2000ddr)(note the 1950 not the 1900) for around £100.

Or alternatively, sell him your card and buy yourself an 8800 or 2900 :p

Disagree.. they are about one third slower than an xt. 25-33% speed increase with an xt. Plus the xt can overclock very well. An outstanding value for money card considering the staggering performance you get from it.
