X1900XTX, what could be wrong with it?

Yep like that abit of ceramic layer cracked off, dunno how its happened exactly, I hope its the problem, but anywayz I have packed it all up now and gonna put it on *** bay for £15 starting auction, starting at 1p I just cant see it getting far.

if thats the case, then i bets its either overheated, or suffered from an electric spike. it may have just killed that chip, or it could have gone further.. only way is to replace it to see

Cant find the chip to replace it tho, and I dunno how to solder em on, so selling as "**UNTESTED**", hopefully someone will buy it.

Reality check time me thinks! :)

You've basically got a pile of scrap GPU at the moment, because you don't know how or can't fix it.

You could sell it on ebay, but I really think you need to list it as faulty, rather than untested. You're asking for grief when somebody buys it and spots a rather obvious fault on one of the chips that you should have seen. Hey, they may even have read this thread!

The folks advising £0.01p start price, and a fair price for postage have it about right. £7 for post seems a bit steep IMO.

Starting at £0.01p will minimise your listing fees, and the postage will ensure you're not out of pocket in that department. I've watched these cards fetch the money you're after in the last hour or so of an auction.

I'd be putting this down to experience to be honest! :)

0.01p start and 3 quid postage?

So should I give the guy grief who I bought it off on this forum for not spotting the rather obvious fault?

8 quid?! I know there are some stupid people on ebay, but they're not that daft! :)

I was going to say a fiver for the postage, which I think is fairer and will get more people watching, which should translate into a better end price.

Personally, I always smell a rat when I see big postage fees. It usually means folks are trying to cover their fees in the postage (illegal under ebays rules), or they think the item won't sell for much.

As a compromise, you could always offer a Special Delivery option for postage as well, and that would be justified at £8.

RMSD would be more than £8, I sold my P5N-E SLi mobo and posting that was about £8.50 via 1st class recorded and its about as heavy as the GPU.

Well, I don't know how much it weighs, so how about finding out exactly what the postage would be (weigh it on some kitchen scales and then check out royalmail.com), and then add a quid or so on for the bubble wrap/jiffy bag and that should tell you what you should be charging for postage?

I think Mobo's and all the bits weigh a lot more than a GPU though, I've posted a ton of stuff over the years, and the last GPU I posted was about £7.50 RMSD, and Mobo about £11 RMSD. Recorded post on the GPU was about £4.

The only way to know for sure though is to weigh it! :)

For something in that price bracket do your really need RMSD? 2nd class parcel post would do. Or let the buyer choose.

you shoudl atleast mention the guys name in this thread you bought the card from. you did say before that you were sold the card buy the person and he said it was overheating. when it arrived the card was totally borked.
overheating is an easy fix, change the cooler. but it was obviously bait to get the card off his hands.

would be good to know who you got the card from so that we be cautious of future purchases from the members market from that same guy.

What are you bundling in there? I've sold my residual fully boxed graphics cards with everything and RMSD by 1pm has never been over £8 something. Most the time it's £6.40
