X1950 / CCC temperature problem??

Would appreciate any thoughts / expert input on this.

Having successfully installed and used a new X1950 graphics card for about a week, today I had a look at the Overdrive feature in CCC.

I ran the automated clock configuration utility and gamed for around 30mins at the recommended levels. Upon re-entering the CCC I notice that the Current Temperature reading is now permanantly set to 20 degrees (2d / no games running) whereas pre-overdrive it was at around 53 degrees!

To test what was going on I ran a 3d game for about 1 min and quickly switched to CCC. The Current Temperature reading is sat at 20 degrees.

Any ideas what's going on here and what I should do about it?

Thanks

Seems to have done the trick - thanks JAG - any idea why that happened? I thought for a moment that the card had overheated and fried the temperature sensor!

Cheers

Don't know what it is.

CCC plays up with me.

First time I ever tried overdrive it worked fine, now it crashes when it trys to overclock the memory, yet it works fine when I do it manually.

Just tempremental!

BTW what speeds did Overdrive set for you?

I can't tell you excactly because (1) I've gone back to defaults and (2) auto configuration locked-up with the progress bar at / a little over half way on the original attempt so my setting of overdrive levels was done manually at the next start.

Upon restarting I moved the GPU and RAM clock sliders to about 33% increase positions. Not terribly scientific / aggressive but I was only really tinkering and during the auto configure tests the fan / temp was fine with the the GPU at this level.

Interestingly up to the point of locking-up auto configure had only been boosting the GPU clock and hadn't started overdrive on the RAM clock.

It's just CCC!

even does it with my wheezing x850xt. :p

Once managed to clock the card from 520/540 to 621/596 then reinstalled after an upgraded mobo and it locked while clocking the ram! Typical!

Just hard set it to 560/560 and it seems to run fine! :)

Thats exactly what happens when I run Overdrive. GPu's fine, then it switches to Ram and instant black screen.

I can manually clock it to 668/1017.

Achieve around 6900 in 3d Mark 06
