X1950 pro causing crashes!?

Hi,
I have an X1950 pro and while playing COD4 and running 3D mark my monitor goes to standby mode and can't be woken up until a reboot although my pc remains on.I am using xp with 2gigs of ram and a quality 600w psu and also have the latest drivers installed.

Does anyone think the ultima gts package on ocuk would be a worthwhile upgrade for me or should i go for the gtx ultima without the monitor etc???

Mine used to do exactly the same until I done two things:

1. Used rivatuner to have the fan on 100% all the time.
2. Bought a PCP&C PSU.

Have a browse of the Sapphire forums (my cards manufacturers) and it's a common problem.

I'll try rivatuner but i'm not sure what a PCP&C PSU is.What do you think about the Ocuk set ups?
