With my new connect3d radeon x1950pro I am still getting the problem with oblivion and other intensive games, when the system decides to hang and the fan on the gxf card goes absolutely nuts. This is on vista 64

Any ideas how i can solve this?

I could go back to windows xp, but what if that doesn't solve the problem?

I am pretty sure there are others with it running fine on vista64

problem i am getting is consistant with a driver error or psu problem

Going to sort the PSU out asap.. this can't keep happening

jeantech 600w artic effort
just installed a new
jeantech 700w storm effort
has 3 indepedent rails, 25a 12v which is better. Oh and a blue fan

stop the press..

still borked like old one, taking it back monday. Doesn't want to be under full load for more than 3 minutes like my old card..

I wanted to rule out everything before i returned this one, but i can't. Only other thing is to try going back to XP and see if its an issue with the Vista drivers...

Any other suggestions fellas I can try before the days are out

Too late, got the 700w now.. I would have needed anyway for when i upgrade in the future

Plus the Blue LED fan.

sorry read the post wrong, thort u meant u were sending the psu back, i have the 700w one aswell and its mint, great value for money :D

if i hadn't already had the one from retail store would have had the corsair one from the board.

Yes the storm is very nice, but it didnt' cure my problem

:(

vista64 7.1 catalyst

I can play pro evo 6 on it all day no problems. But anything like oblivion it falls over.

Its like it gets too hot too quickly or something just like the old card.

Not sure if this will help remotely, but try to force the fan on the card to run at 100 percent, and take the side of the case off, and aim a desk fan inside the case. That will help to see if it overheating.

Personally I would consider taking it back though. I would have thought that if it was the drivers, it would happen in all games.

You could also try to "downclock" the card, so it is running below factor defaults.

Hi dark angel,

I had thought about this but in the driver control panel I can't find the option for the fan. If you can help me with this I would be grateful

even then that just proves its faulty right? Surely i should be able within reason "plug and play" at least more than 3 mins!!! :(

ati tray tools doesn't work, i think its a vista thing.... really really miffed about it

Does sound borked but will give it a go with 7.2 drivers before giving up

I've now got my card pretty stable. I uninstalled Catalyst 7.1 & am running with the 8.333.0.0 drivers. It seems that Catalyst was causing all my problems.

Where did you get them from?
