x1950 review

Interesting to note it loses both 3D Mark tests to the gx2 but in true real game all bells and whistles on performance it actually outperforms it! :D

So it looks like if you like 3D Mark bragging right......GX2
If you want the ultimate gaming performance.....x1950xtx :P

I think we all have to agree that the latter here is clearly the best choice! As it is games we buy these things for after all aint it? ;)

Also note....they mention price of $399 in the conclusion.....that would be around £300 here but we all know it'll ship for more

The biggest question is, who is going to buy one? Considering the current price of an x1900xt at the min! :)

so the difference between the X1950 and the X1900 is only more memory bandwith? :o

Yes but the performance benefits are pretty huge. Were talking 15-25% performance boost with maximum eye candy at high resolutions.

Is this not where we all crave for extra performance? I certainly think it is! :)

The price will be in the £250-£300+VAT range at OcUK and its looking like OcUK may have complete exclusivity on the launch in the UK of this product. :D

Cooler on it is a monster, should be good for some major clocking.
Looking at those results as well it performs way better than the x1900xt and whoops the 7950x2 that is pretty impressive.

hi gibbo

when is it out or when ocuk due to have it?

is this cooler quieter than the 7900gtc on full throttle?

thanks

Holy crap, the mighty 7950GX2 has been rendered utterly pointless by a true single card. I am also very surprised at how well the X1900XT-X competes against the 7950GX2, I didn't know it was anywhere near that good.

Maybe not... I would not trust those number on VR Zone, and the other preview has been taken down...

Taken from nvnews:

VrZone - FEAR - 16xAF/4xAA
x1950xtx - 33
7950gx2 - 26

Hardwarezone - FEAR - 8xAF/4xAA
x1950xtx - 33
7950gx2 - 40

So who is right, either the card is great or **** who knows which?

Aye I agree, I shouldn't jump the gun too quickly as we've only seen a couple of sets of benchmarks. I will wait until Anandtech and FiringSquad do their reviews before passing judgement, and of course I will wait until Gibbo makes another "is (x silly amount) in 3D Mark with a single card any good?" thread. :)

Ouch that IS good!

But to be fair clock XT-Xs mem to 850+mhz and your getting close to stock speeds of the X1950 as the X1900 cards are hugely mem limited :(

100mhz in mem will do 1-2k 2005 points while 100mhz core will only do 500-1000.

I need that cooler dammit!

Aye, but keep in mind that it's using GDDR4 memory with huge bandwidth and tight timings too. That cooler is bloody nice though.
