X1950 XT-X >> ??

Sapphire tend to give more goodies with the card not sure if this is the case with the 4870. I got Vantage with my x2, not even used it yet mind as it means I have to install Vista which isn't happening.

I'm in a similar position, but my mobo only has the pcie v1 and not v2, does this mean the 4870 won't work as well on it?
 
4870 is the better card, but at your resolution 1280x1024 you don't need it.

Get the 4850 and save money, maybe towards a larger screen or anything :)
 
To be quite honest id just save up all the cash i have to get a 4870X2, you wont be dissapointed, mine had to be RMA'd so i had to stick my 2900 back in but my 4870X2 will be here in a few weeks, its the way to go :)

Well, here it is.. Old X1950 XTX at the top , new Sapphire HD4870 512mb at the bottom,

The cooler is rather beefy looking! Almost like a copy of the thermalright ones you get?.. the aftermarket ones.

I've only ever seen the red plastic coolers on these cards before!

Heh... I thought it wasn't going to arrive as New years day had screwed up the transport a wee bit, but I woke up and it was waiting for me downstairs!

DHL had took it to the wrong address first.. but fortunately the man who opened it said 'this isn't mine' **phew**

I love the new cooler :D and its a wee bit longer than my X1950 XTX which almost caused me problems ;)
