Just curious what drivers you use. Im on 8.3 and get texture shimmering and aa wont work when i try to force it. Just wondering if its drivers or not. So wondering if to change drivers hence where you come in. :)
 
i updated every month right through to the 8.3s. no problems with any of them (except the 7.5s which had problems @ 1440x900 -wasn't an agp problem though)

but i've finally jumped to pci-e at last... :p
 
I recently did a uninstall of 8.3 and tried 7.7 again. First thing i notice is worms not as smooth again as in feels like input lag or somit. Second was race driver grid demo now no longer works as in corruption on after the first intro. And st legacy isn't as fast any more on a certain map.

I am trying without CCC for the first time and using ati tray tools as i keep hearing on the forums that its preferable. So far its not too bad using them but I'm wondering if I'm having these problems because I'm not using CCC or somit now or is it the driver. I cant be bothered now to uninstall it all again and do safe mode and driver cleaner pro stuff again and then get another set of drivers etc. So anyone know how i should proceed.
 
I'd just install the new driver set again and away you go. You could also try some of the Warcat drivers. Through using the 9800Pro, X900XT PE, X1900XT, 2900Pro I never once used CCC and never had a problem unless a game needed updated drivers. The only time a game corrupted like you have explained was when I needed to update my drivers or DirectX. After doing that my problems vanished. ATI Tray Tools for the win :D.
 
Trying 8.5 atm i couldnt be bothered uninstalling the 7.7 driver so i overwritten it instead hope it wont cause too many probs. Worms is again smooth :)

Grid works again but texture shimmering still evident in this and most games. :(

I was a bit scared as windows blinds didn't load up after the reboot and getting it on wasn't happening so i rebooted again and thankfully it came on as it should. Legacy had a few fps improvements. Dark star one still struggles even at 30fps it feels laggy somehow like its loading stuff but it shouldn't be.

Edit - About worms, it seems the prob was vsync, worms likes to have it application controlled not forced off, its fine now with a profile i made so worms sets it to app controlled now. :)

Currently on 8.4 with no problems. To be honest i haven't noticed any texture shimmers in games for a while, last one i saw was on supcom and arma1.08 with cat8.3+hotfix.

About the force AA thing i wouldn't know, tried it once in the past and it didn't seem to work. Newest game i have tried is age of conan and there were no problems graphicly with it at all which is odd as veiw distance increases i tend to notice shimmers.
 
I would get the hotfix but it says just use it if you have problems launching games with direct x but the games i have run ok. Just aa forces doesnt work in any game (if i force it tho it still drains performance even tho theres no filtering going on).
 
Ok im now getting really sick of all my games lookin like there unfiltered and stuff. I have 8.5 drivers i tryed 7.7 and 8.4 and 8.1 all the same crap. I duno whats wrong but my games just look worse and worse each time i play them now. Whats going on. Is it a software or hardware thing now im wondering.

Heres a screenie of mass effect i just got this morning. The edge of the top left screen looks like its rendering almost ok but the other lights u can see isnt and that goes for all the center of the screen just the 1 inch of the outside edge of the screen looks any good. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It never used to be like this a few months ago. I dont think anythings changed that could effect my comp so much. I tryed diff drivers all giving me this crap quality. I need help.
