Hi all,

This is my first post! Hopefully in the right section.

Well i'm after a new setup due to my mainboard going **** on me. So i'm building a new setup. Plus i was only running a AGP 5950 Ultra! bit dated now so thought a upgrade is well over due.

So my question is.... do i get a X1950XT or is it best to try and wait for the early DX10 cards? Remember i don't have a system at the mo tho!!

This is what i'm going to be getting no matter what GC.
Asus P5W DH
2Gig of PC6400 Ram (ocz, Corsair or any top brand)
Core 2 duo E6600

Thanks

What res you going to be using if its only 1280x1024 then you might be better getting somthing a little cheaper as at lower resolutions theres not that much between the mid range and top range cards

its a lot of money for a GPU (the x1950)... a x1900xt wouldnt be too far off it... and as mattx2 said if u arent doing mega high res's go for the cheaper option.. x1800xt is at a good price and gives good performance.

Personally I wouldnt pay more than £200 for a GPU IMO its kinda a waste of money due to how quickly they become cheaper.

Thanks for your input guys.
My res will be 1280x1024. So a lower spec card would be better then?. I have read that a 7950Gx2 is better at the lower res?
The only reason i was looking at the X1950XT was because it's the top dog at the min and will last for a couple years hopefully. Plus if i get a higher res screen then i know my card will cope.

Get the x1900 XT and clock it x1900 XTX speeds, its only about 1-2fps slower than than the x1950 XTX, and you would have saved a packet as they are less that £200, if you want the same cooler as the x1950 then get the HIS ICEQ3 SILENT x1900. :)

Welcome to the forums btw. :D
