x1950xtx performance

Im slightly disapointed with the performance off this card

I had an amd athlon64 4200+ @ 2.62ghz
2gb ocz ddr400 pc3200 GOLD XTC ram
650w psu
asus 7600gt

Now i have the same setup apart from i have a x1950xtx

With the 7600gt i got around 100-120fps average on the game css , with the the x1950xtx i get around 80-100fps

This is using the drivers that came with the card and it is hooked up to the PSU

And my screen sometimes freezes for a second then comes back... anyone no why? ;\

650w psu, hmm, that wouldn't happen to be a qtec would it?

also must be something wrong with the drivers, a x1900xt should easily beat a 7600gt. are you sure your running both tests using the same settings, resolution, AA, etc?

As Cyber-Mav said, you PSU may not be up to the job. There are 380W PSUs that beat some 650W PSUs, it depends on the brand and other specifications like the 12v rail(s) and efficiency of the PSU.

Also, there are some hacked Catalyst 6.9 drivers available for the X1950XT-X so you might want to give them a try, but 3D Mark will register them as hacked.

What Res are you running at, the performance difference at a low Res isnt as noticable as at 1600x1200.
