X2 4400 problems

Howdy,
Recently I upgraded from a 3500 venice to a 4400 Toledo. However, after installing the new cpu my pc just wont stay stable.....in windows....I can boot into Kubuntu and it runs fine....but Windows...no chance. So, I formatted my windows partition and re-installed Windows...still no go. Sometimes my pc boots into windows..then BSOD's, sometimes it just hangs on the Windows loading screen......any ideas?

Mine was exactly the same, I couldnt get it stable. Tried all sorts to get it right, upping vcore, memory voltage, lower multiplier.
After much testing and no result I was going to RMA it but it turned out that when I moved my memory from the 2 orange slots on my Sli-dr to the 2 yellow it worked fine. Very bizarre as it was running immaculate with a amd64 3000 in those slots.
Try swapping your memory and hopefully it may be OK

i've also just upgraded from a 3500+ venice to a 4400+ toledo, i don't have any problems at stock, but i have notised i can't clock it even slightly, even 2.26 makes games lock up ?

I will try moving my memory around tonight.

I have not been able to install the processor driver as I cannot really get into windows

I have a Q-Tec 650watt psu atm (dont laugh )

At one point it was almost running stable when we set the v-core to 1.475.

You don't need the processor driver, it should be stable without it.
I would take a guess that Qtec POS isn't providing the current required. Change that PSU. NOW.

Q-tec should be renamed KILL-tec imo, the lines are flakier than dandruff especially when they purposely mis-sell a 350watt psu with a peak suppliable wattage of 600watt as a 600watt psu

Nice one You've got some good gear there mate. Its worthy of a decent PSU, treat your rig to one.
