I wondered that as i'm only showing one graph in task manager?

It would still only show up as one graph with just the optimizer installed. When clicking the option for one graph per CPU i would still just have one graph.

Sorted it. :)

Download AMD CPU driver & AMD Optimizer.Run AMD CPU driver then reboot & then run AMD Optimizer & reboot. Then go into task manager click performance tab & then click view then CPU history then change to one graph per CPU.

AMD Dual-Core Optimizer
AMD Athlon™ 64/FX Processor Driver for Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 Version (x86 and x64 exe) 1.3.2

What motherboard do you have?

Have you installed the latest bios?

msi nf4 platinum sli

got the original bios as it says on msi site that it supports x2's

so not really up for flashing if I don't have to.

I haven't done a reinstall, just popped her in, so this is maybe the reason?

in Control Panel, System, Hardware, Device Manager, Computer

Does it say ACPI Multiprocessor PC?

All i did was check to make sure my bios supported the particular X2 and stepping i was buying, i have installed no extra software and windows only asked me to reboot once after first post with the X2 in & i've been properly MP'ing ever since.

installed the amd cpu power monitor and it is telling me my os or bios does not support multiprocessors

checked the above too and I have uniprocessor

looks like a bios flash as I have installed the drivers

cheers

If i was you i would maybe update your bios to the latest version.Or see if your current bios supports your revision of X2 CPU.

The bios detects it as a 4600+ and see's 2 cpu as it posts.

Backing up for reinstall, in device manager Computer is listed as Standard PC now. Fresh install of XP home and the XP Pro :(

Multi Processor and Multi Core are two different things, and XP Home can do Multi Core.

Install one done, XP home up and running, 2 useage histories :p Just have to install all my other stuff now XP and Outlook are setup and functioning as desired.
