*****POLL REQUEST:

Q: Is being limited to one highly customizable ship a good thing?

A: Yes, I much rather having one ship that I can tailor to suit me

A: No, I would much rather be able to fly all ships and not customize them.

A: I like lamp.

Welcome, I haven't seen any info on this game on the forums and I'm quite interested in starting a talk about it so I figured I'd make a thread. So lets get this started:

What is it?

The X series are space sim games which focus on on both combat and trade in a massive world. X3 Rebirth is a big step in the franchise where much of the core concepts of previous games in the series have been completely reworked. Whilst some of these changes may not appeal to some of the hard core fans, it will almost certainly be a huge improvement over X3 Terran conflict, the most recent in the series.

Ok, lets get this started.

I have a poll request for what your views are of the change to only being in one ship. I personally feel this is a good thing because I have spent most of X3 TC in one ship and always found the AI to be too naff to really pilot anything which isn't full of turrets due to it's inability to target it's main guns on an enemy.

I also hope that by making us stick to one ship they can concentrate on the mechanics behind how to control fleets, leading to much improved epic space battles!

I truly can't wait for this to come out. There are a lot of problems with X3 terran conflict which I hope this will fix.

How did it get stolen? I've been playing TC quite a bit recently. I still love it. The XRM mod is making it really quite hard to keep plugging away at it though!

I'd lent it to a mate and he was burgled. Although I've just checked and TC can be had for a fiver, but it's currently out of stock.

What about on steam? To be honest, considering the fact you already bought it once. I wouldn't mind acquiring it in over ways. You know because the patch was a no cd patch you could have lent it to him and got it straight back after he installed it. Shame.

It's a no go I'm afraid. I've just installed Reunion and the 2.5 patch and the game runs fine. Sadly though, my Joystick (Sidewinder Precision Pro 2) doesn't seem to work with Windows 7 and there's no way I can play it with the mouse.

EDIT: Just dug out an old Saitek P2500 pad and that seems to work. Will just have to spend sometime configuring it.

I wish they'd make 360 controllers work with it. A game pad is ideal for space flight in my opinion but without proper support you can't get both sticks to work properly nor the triggers to.

I like the idea of having one ship and making it work much better, but I don't see how it's going to meld to all the things i'd want to do. At minimum I need a light, quick frigate for recon work, a decent merchant ship and a corvette/similar ship to head up small fleets.

In the interview he mentions espionage and sabotage. IMO two things that were desperately missing from X3 and I hope they're implemented well. Not much point in establishing a major universe wide trading monopoly if you can't be a **** and screw with your competitors.

I have both XTC & Albion Prelude, but as a noob which one do I start off with first? I'm a little confused over who is at war with who and the timeline of these games...
