Hi all,

A 360 premium order beckons, I was just wondering what you guys would class as being absolute essential games for the first time buyer. I was looking at a bundle of the x360 with PGR3 and Hitman for £319.99, seems pretty reasonable ?

Was also thinking of maybe picking up Perfect Dark Zero + AN other, any suggestions of games I have maybe overlooked, or that indeed I should be leaving on the shelf ?!

Thanks for any advice!

I've had mine about 2 weeks now, and most definately get Oblivion, unless you've got it on the PC?

I've completed Condemned and Tomb Raider already, they've been and gone (sold), they were good but nothing has as much longevity as Oblivion.

I'd also get GRAW for some online fun.

Hitman seems to be a goodie too, i'm just shopping for that now.

King Kong if you can pick it up for £10/£15.

Will only take you a day to complete, but I hadnt played a console game for some 6 years, and King Kong out of my 5 games I rate as number 1.

Such a blast for the 7 hours it took me to complete, just awsome fun.

PGR3 is good game, and DOA4 is good with mates.

Just ordered Fifa 2006 WC so that should be some fun. :)

From the demos I've downloaded (still not purchased a game yet!) GRAW and Call of Duty 2 are my favourites by far. Probably CoD 2 for my first purchase.

I to would recommend CoD2 if you're into those kind of games.. and also definately GR:AW.. That game is really good.

But yeah what you have said is a good selection. FNR3 is also suppose to be a great game, but haven't managed to get hold of it yet.. I'm on the lookout though.

;)

Personally I got bored of PGR3 and didn't think much of PDzero. Games I have enjoyed so far have been COD2, Oblivion,FNR3 and GRAW (for a bit).

next up on my agenda is Burnout :)

The only game you really need is Burnout Revenge, honestly, best game I have played on the 360 (and I've played nearly all of them).

Burnout Revenge and Call of Duty 2 are my favourite 2.
Oblivion, Ghost Recon, Project Gotham Racing 3 and Tomb Raider are worth looks.

Infact, Top Spin 2, the 2 Fifa games and Full Auto are the only 2 I've not really liked!

Definitely go on Xbox Live!

PDZ is the same as marmite. Personally, I love it.

But essentials, Condemned, Oblivion, BF2, Burnout Revenge and COD2.

Coming from a guy who has played far too many i can give you a top 3 and also a top 3 or close to in each genre!!

Racing:

1. Burnout - Huge, exciting, amazing multiplayer, geat graphics
2. PGR3 - Great release title, proper racer, awesome visuals.
3. Ridge Racer 6 - Pure uninterupted arcade lovelyness

Action/Adventure

1. Tomb Raider Ledgend - A return to form for the busty aristocrat, flipping brilliant!
2. Condemned - Dark, Adult and a real looker. Fantastic.
3. Kameo - Technically a platformer but also a great game, shows off the 360's power with some epic scenes, online co-op is great too.

RPG

1, 2, + 3. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - Its the only RPG, sure, but Coca-Cola is the only real Coke and it still rocks my socks. Buy this!

FPS:

1. CoD 2 - I did this one on PC but from what ive seen its equal on 360, pure pee-in-your-pants tear-in-your-eye lump-in-your-throat war action.
2. Far Cry: Instincts Predator - Beautiful as ever with added stealth and brutal feral upgrades, also very challenging with great online play and a superb map-maker.
3. Quake 4: Another i did on PC. Opinion with people is mixed on this one but i thought it was an awesome sequel to Q2 one of the best games ever made. Online play is lacking in polish.

Sport:

1. Amped 3 - Im skewed by a love of extreme sports but this was a great snowboard title with a bizzare yet intoxicating story and roll on the floor cut scenes.
2. Top Spin 2 - Good tennis game, great for multiplay but nails on Live! Career becomes repetative and AI is functional rather than good.
2. Fifa RTWC - Actually a pretty poor, but graphics were good and had that "YES GOAL" yelling factor, sequel now out.

XBOX Live! Arcade.

Generally this is very opinion based. For me tho the followuing have offered me the best bang for buck.

UNO: Purely for screaming profanities at yanks down the mic, made some good buddies too
Geometry wars: Pure as the driven snow, classic arcade stuff (sampler can be found in PGR3's garages)
Outpost Kaloki X: Kooky sim-space-station type game, but then i love theme park type games.

Overall Top 3

1. Oblivion - Not perfect but AWESOME
2.TR - Legend - Onloy complaint, too short.
3. Burnout Revenge - annoying at times but pure class with slick EA presentation

See also - NFS: Most Wanted - Great title, doesnt quite get into racing top 3 but worth a look

Hope this helps you spend a few hundred :D

How long did Ridge Racer take before it got tedious?

Tempted by it in my third wave of games, purely for the multiplayer fun.

If ya try to do the career quickly then it gets a bit tedious and frustrating cos its massive and difficult at times. Online was brilliant fun. The acheivements are hard (hence i only got 600-odd lol) and time consuming.

What is it like for 2 on a console?

PGR3 is ace, but if they are new to it takes a while to get them up to being able to manage the corners. :p
