X360 with BR drive built in available 3rd quarter?

I may be wrong, but it sounds like you have severe sour grapes with MS?

What exactly do you mean about getting it wrong? what did they get wrong? They made a decision to launch with DVD, and offer HD-DVD as an add-on when it became available.. they would never have had the option of BR for some time after the PS3, Sony where delayed due to the BR diodes? and then consumed all the supply with the PS3 production for many months..

Are you saying MS should have waited for 6-12 months after the PS3 to see who 'won the war' then waited for the BR diode supply to become available, and then launched the 360?

No they made a business decision to get the 360 launched before the PS3, taking too many shortcuts and not implementing the techology that will see them through for the next 5-7yrs... It could have paid off, but it hasn't..

Same way as Sony delayed the PS3 to implement it as a Bluray player... And things are showing that this delay has paid off.

So the term I'm referring too as getting it wrong is valid..

As for your comment Kreee, I don't hate Microsoft, quite the opposite actually.. BUT I do feel their console outside of it's fab games catalogue, controller and Live Service has made some really annoying mistakes. If things annoy me i tend to complain about them.

I certainly don't agree with the logic,

It's all very well saying they made a mistake in hindsight, but you are inferring that they deliberately made the mistake by making a silly decision, I can't see how else they could have feasibly handled it.

The problem is you are saying Sony deliberately delayed the PS3 to be a BR player, this is not true, It was always part of the plan to have BR and launch earlier then they did, had the BR diodes been productionable and available, the PS3 would have launched at the same time as the 360..

MS did not have the option of BR at all, parts wheren't in production, and it's Sony's technology, the only way to have had BR would have been to have waited until months/years after the PS3 launched, which is just not feasble, and would have meant pulling the 360 no doubt.

The only question is over whether they could have reasonably delayed and included HD-DVD in every console and used it for games, but since they are a 3rd party to HD-DVD, it failing has much more impact for them, as someone has to 'press' all the disks, and if it's only for your hardware, you end up having to just about own your own pressing plant..

I think the choice they made, although not perfect has worked out the best for them..

SegaCD... played SegaCD games. Therefore Sega needed it to sell games. It did not because the games were ASS.

Blu Ray Drive for the 360. Plays Blu-Ray MOVIES, MS don't need to sell Blu-Ray movies because they will get no money from it. They will also hardly get much money from the hardware. Because they are a SOFTWARE company.

So no it is NOTHING like the SegaCD because Sega created a format that it needed to sell.

I made some words in capitals so it gets them in your head a little easier.

I'm glad you posted that. I really don't have the patience to deal with idiots.

Doesnt the read speed of the BD drive also have an effect on the DVD read speed (the actual drive mechanism)? So if by using a BD drive the read speed for the DVD drops, wouldnt that cause a problem for games (dvd)? I still dont think Microsoft have much interest in using a BD drive internally, an external drive would be more likely.

The hypocritical truth?

You cannot tell someone who uses forums regularly to get a life. Especially when you use them yourself.

Otherwise I can say for you to get a life and stop playing so many game consoles as you like to boast in your sig. Even though as I currently type this I have GTA on pause.

Edit: I will end this here as I have finalised that I am awesome and you are a bell end.

can't see it happening tbh, 360 is nearly 3 years old now xbox 720 or whatever will probably be along in a year or so. Sony might be in bother then what with the gpu in the ps3 being a 7800 gtx and all if the next xbox has dx 10 tech.
