I need to get my head around this confusion about motherboards.

1. Right, so what i can gather is that Intel is just leaving the X38 chipset in the dust and concentrating on X48?

2. Much improvement over P35?

3. My next question regards the P45. How will that stack up to the X48 board as the X38 is getting wiped out?

4. Why would Intel realese two chipsets(P45 and X48) at the same time?

The X48 is basically a Cherrypicked X38, there is no real difference if someone had a X38 already.

The P45, is not out and I dont know much about it but many say the P35 is the best chipset since the NF2.

I have not been that impressed with X48 benches so far.

I would imagine P45 will have a PCI-E 2 graphics slot, but other than that they're all pretty much the same.

The main difference between the X and P boards (3 and I would assume series 4 boards) is mainly down to the number of PCI-E lanes that are supported, X38 boards have enough lanes to support full speed Crossfire, whilst P35 boards are limited to x4 on the second slot.
