x4800 overclock

I bought mine in April last year and it's been an utter pig to OC.

2.7 is about as good as it's got 100% stable, and that's on water. Not sure what stepping it is, but not a good one.

I only got up to about 2.75 24/7 stable on WC back when I had a 4800. I had 2 chips, one significantly newer than the other and they were both near identical for max OC.

Yep, mine is a s939.

It has been in a two different motherboards, an MSI K8N Neo 2 Platinum and a DFI Ultra D with the same results, so it looks like it's not a good oc'ing chip at all, not like an old P4 2.4C I used to have.

motherboard is asus A8R32-MVP - i had an A8N32 sli and it was never as stable at this FSB:

LCB9E 0641 APMW Z

Got a serious contact issue atm, getting very high temps (60+) (with coretemp) but still: oc results sofar

3000mhz (250*12) - 1.6V core, cores at 62/66c with orthos. PWM @ 88+ and mobo shutdown for safety (lasted about 20 mins till shutdown) xD

2900mhz (242*12) - 1.525V Core, Cores at 60/63 with orthos, PWM at 80 (not happy with that either)

2800mhz (233*12) - 1.375V (stock is 1.35), cores at 55/61 with orthos. pwm at 69. this is how im running atm

imho, these last stepping 4800's seem to be pretty good. came with 4 heatpipe amd cooler too.
