Hi, just trying to get my build started got everything plugged in and when I try and flash the bios it just powers up after a few second the easy debug led for the cpu white one stays a solid white and the system just runs, there is no light from the led next to the bios flash button.

Need to do it this way as I have a 5600x.

Any thoughts of where it's gone wrong.

My usb stick has been slow formatted and quick formatted several times in Fat32 and I've taken the bios file and renamed it MSI.COM and put it on the usb stick.

I've tried resetting the bios but not sure what the instructions are telling me to do.

Thanks for your time.

For mine (same board), I plugged in the main power connector and the 2 CPU ones, and that’s it. Don’t install CPU or RAM.

Apparently a USB 2.0 drive is preferred but I did the same as you in terms of setting up the drive. Make sure it’s in the bottom USB port next to the flash icon, press the flash button next to it, after a couple seconds the chipset fan will sound like a jet engine and will stay that way for around 7min. The bios flash light is hard to see as it’s under the backplate shroud, but you can definitely see it (it’s a white light).

Keep trying and leave it running for about 20minutes before trying again, I've sometimes had to try it 3 or 4 times before it takes using the same USB stick, it seems to be quite quirky

Skip to 4.20 for setting up USB drive and flashing process.

You may have to try a different USB drive preferably USB2.

Took me ages to do this myself as i kept getting VGA fault. I had to use a GTX 1030 to get it to work and then switch PCI-E to Gen 3 to get my RTX 3070 to work. (hopefully you will not have this problem)

Yes it was a typo ;) So the big mistake I made was installing everything before flashing the bios, this basically just turned the computer on when I pressed the flash button instead of flashing the bios. This just lead to the RGB and fans turning on and the white debug led being a solid white.

I used an old 2gb usb 2.0 stick and reformatted it, got the bios from the website renamed and copied it onto the usb stick as the only file on there.

Just as a comical followup while trying to put all my components back in I dropped my 5600x and bent around 5 pins got them back in order eventually, screwdriver didn't work, but razor blade did.

Also before when I was trying to reset the bios as a trouble shooting step I dropped the battery in the case and had to use a. magnet to get it out from behind the power supply

Drop your cpu is it working ?
Yup all working fine bios is picking it up, just waiting for the windows boot usb to download.

It seems to me that if there's an issue with the pins after a drop it's very likely to be on the edge of the processor. A razor blade worked really well and shining a light on it and changing the angle I was looking at it from helped me identify the bent ones.

Cool, That was a close shave ;) ( razor blade pun )

What is your system spec ?

Thats a very nice system

I dud mine using a USB3 stick, seems to work bo problem. I dudn't have a CPU in so difn't connect the CPU power.

Instructions online instructed me to:
- format the usb stick as FAT32
- Set the drive to 'MBR (master boot record)
- Set the usb as 'Primary partition,
- Format it again (!)

Then I put the file on, connected, turned on power, pressed the little button, watched the flashing white light from somewhere within, and finally watched that finish flashing some minutes later. I guess its ok but time will tell. No CPU (5900x not arrived) yet for it... :/

I completed this with no issues with a 5600x

Key points
1) follow this link (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iTkXunUAriE)
2) Ensure you have unzipped the rom and put that onto the flash drip (uncompressed)
3) rename the BIOS to MSI.ROM
4)I had the power lead in and cpu power (you might not need the last one)
5)put the USB in the port by the flashback button, i used the bottom port
6)Press flashback (watch for the USB lights on stick or the white light on the board by the flash back button but behind the plate)
7) it should start flashing on and off and should be active for about 3 minutes.

Hope this helps :)
