Planning on build a new sytem around:

[cpu]Core 2 Duo 6600
[mobo]Asus P5W DH Deluxe
[hdd]2x Raptors in Raid 0
[ram]G-Skill 6400HZ
[gfx card]EVGA 7950GX2
[sound card]Sound Blaster X-FI
[dvd drive]Samsung SH-W163A Sata Drive
[modem]Netgear DG632

What drivers are essential just to get x64 to work?

I have found x64 drivers for, gfx card, sound card. I assume drivers/firmware updates aren't required for cpu, hdd and dvd?

Are x64 drivers required for Intel RAID or SATA setup?

The p5W looks to have full x64 support, can anyone confirm this?

Tnx in advance.

I have a printer, and have got x64 drivers for that. Sry should have mentioned that earlier. Im just concered about the main components really, as long as i can get x64 to work, then that will be ok.

There is no reason why it shouldnt work, i have never had to install it on raid so i would check if you need x64 drivers on the floppy for installing windows.

my guess is you would as all drivers for x64 have to be 64bit

Thx a lot for your help, those drivers are for the jmicron raid and not intel raid tho. I wonder if the x64 are supplied with the mobo, for the intel raid.

Are x64 mobo chipset drivers required?

Yep i would say they would be but you should find everything on the asus site, they seem pretty up to date on xp-64,

try intel.com for your sata drivers or have alook on the floppy you have

EDIT: There are 64-bit ethernet drivers on asus

Thx so much. Found raid drivers on intels site. Just downloaded the manual and it has x64 support out of the box for the sata/raid drivers.

Do you use a printer or scanner at all? Comapnies lke canon offer NO xp-64 at all

Admittedly my el-cheapo LiDE scanner has no 64-bit drivers but there are drivers for my PiXMA iP4000 and a 64-bit version of the CD-Labelprint software. :)

I have a canon i455 which i use often and a canon scanner thats not used so much but i would basically have to dual boot just to print stuff, its a joke, i mean how hard can it be to make them. Hope vista 64 is more supported

I just remembered i have a canon A620 camera, but i think i can access them through the card reader in my printer. Canon really need to pull there fingers out and get some proper support out.
