Hey Guys,

I bought the following last year from OCUK

GPU - Description: Gainward GeForce RTX 4090 Phantom 24GB GDDR6X PCI-Express Graphics Card
CPU - AMD Ryzen 9 7950X Sixteen Core 5.70GHz (Socket AM5) Processor - Retail
PSU - ASUS ROG THOR 1200W 80 Plus Platinum II Modular Power Supply
Cooler - Lian-Li GALAHAD AIO 360mm High Performance RGB CPU Water Cooler - White
Ram - Corsair Vengeance EXPO 32GB (2X16GB) DDR5PC5-48000C36 6000MHz Dual Channel Kit - Black
Mobo - Gigabyte X670 Gaming X AX (Socket AM5) DDR5 ATX Motherboard

I've noticed that my bios version is saying F2 which is really old.

I've tried updating to f20 but after the process is complete, I'm just left with a black screen and a red DRAM light on the motherboard.

When I reboot my bios version is back at F2.

I'm just looking for some advice as the posts and information I'm finding online is conflicting.

-Is there a specific version of the bios I should be going to from f2?
-Should I try this with a single stick and bios settings defaulted?

Any advice or guidance would be really helpful thank you!

I've managed to get this booted with f6 however when navigating around the bios xmp is disabled / greyed out

I would do incremental updates until you get to the latest, so next I would flash F9

Skip F7 and F8 as it contains the same AGESA as F6

Id Skip F9a too as theres next to no difference between 1.0.0.7b and 1.0.0.7c the only fix I remember was better overclocking for Samsung based ram.

Finally flash F20

The weird thing is I originally had f2 on the bios which was December 22 (came with the purchase) and xmp was enabled in the bios for that

Hey Jamin280627

just wanted to say thank you for the replies and appreciate the help.

I've checked again today in the tweaker menu and it's also disabled / no option to enable it.

DDR5 Auto booster option above that is set to auto, see if one of the options there is for enabled / manual / user profile etc, if so.....give one of them a try, and then see if you can enable XMP / EXPO

EDIT: From your manual "DDR5 Auto booster - Auto lets the bios configure the setting" to me that says JEDEC Standard which is 4800mhz, so if you enable that setting, it will allow the boosted frequency, which shoul be the XMP profile.

Yeah, disable the auto booster and enable XMP.

It'll probably be exactly the same in nett performance but at least you then know your RAM is running at the advertised XMP speeds without having to use CPU-z.
