X79 board with crucial smart tracer memory don't work

what boards are you having problems with? asus or gigabyte? i can get you beta bios's for gigabyte but not asus

Warning

Some of beta BIOSes are still undergoing compatibility testing. GIGABYTE is sharing these BIOSes for testing purposes only and are not meant for general release. If you are not familiar with beta BIOS testing, then please only flash the recommended release BIOSes that are posted on the GIGABYTE website, as only release BIOSes have passed compatibility testing

i know users with ud7 clocked to 4.6ghz without issues

OK i started a thread on the Crucial site, they have been trying to help but some outsider like me found out from Asus this..

(Hi because we had users who put in ram on the wrong direction forcefully, meaning half-the-way in, and the 3.3v for SPD will then be connected to ground on the reverse side of the ram and you burn out the MB 3.3v trace)

I take it this will mean tracer memory does and will not work due to the lack of power or none as stated, the crucial support guy is passing this info on to the test lab and said he will keeps us posted. I'm not sure if this is Asus boards only or all X79. :((

All that is saying is that some users have jammed thier memory in the wrong way, nothing to do with the above problems.

Looks like it is confirmed incompat, send your sticks back is the advice...

First off, thank you for isolating this problem and attempting to get ASUS to formally address and remedy this incompatibility. Your efforts are very much appreciated because, going forward, you have saved many the time, expense, and frustration of trying to get the Crucial Ballistix Tactical Tracers working with the (now known) incompatible ASUS Rampage IV Extreme x79 Motherboard.

With that said, I hope Crucial expedites their testing and if this incompatibility is confirmed, they need to revise their guaranteed compatibility list for the ASUS motherboard in question ASAP. I also think that anyone considering a return (for obvious reasons) should make note of this thread when requesting an RMA from Crucial.

Again, thank you for your efforts and as far as I'm concerned you have provided "my accepted solution" for this issue.

Best regards,

Small update, OCUK swapped mem + rep...

I've had a PM from crucial to say they are now activly engaged with Asus on this issue but it looks like a HW problem on the rampage so dont expect a BIOS fix to do the trick.

Replaced with Dominator GT and no problems at all, running sweetly @ 2133.
