x800GTO help :(

hey guys ive just got a ati x800GTO agp to replace my old nvidia geforce 5900xt
i how ever have a problem and am beginning to worry if i have a faulty card...

any cat driver 6 series will not function correctly eg latest driver 6.8 installs but my comp acts like theres no drivers installed or if i install 6.5 i get a blue screen of death just as windows xp pro should be appearing...

how ever 5.1 and 5.5 cats work perfect almost and give me performance id expect by almost i mean bf2 has problems with shadows and a few wee glitches.

How did you install the card/remove the nvidia drivers?

i went into add remove programs an removed the drivers then i booted into safe mode and ran cab cleaner and driver cleaner pro i then shut my comp down and installed the card then let it boot up normally and installed the ati drivers then i had that problem the 6.8 cats were the first ones i tried

edit : i tried the omega drivers based on cat 6.7 last night and they didnt work either

You have tried the driver only version and the one with the CCC requiring .net?

yeh it was the one requireing .net i tried im downloading the driver only now hopefully it works

arg still no luck its just like theres no driver installed but it installed fine

edit: just found out that theres a common problem with drivers above 6.4 on my kt400 chip set so gonna try cats 6.4 that should fix it in meantime i hope
