x850xt just keeps going

thats it, 3d mark score aren't worth anything really as long as I'm happy that it plays games how I want it the thats good enough for me. Pointless modding a card to gain a few more points and voiding your warrenty.

i got a powercooler X800XT on water and cant clock the chip any more than 520 without it rebooting the pc, memory (which isnt water cooled) keeps going and had to stop it at 560 as i didnt want to bodge it. Saying all this, i have kept it at 500/500 cos i am scared.

What do you mean "bodge it" Is my memory at risk!! I can run at 562/626 with original bios and stock cooler. I have used ATiTray to do it, granted it is on a 3D profile so only use it for gaming (the noise is terrible!!) but will this put it at risk, even if I have checked it for artifacts and reasonable GPU temperature under load?

wouldn't of thought your putting your card at risk as long as the temps are ok and everything is stable then you should bo ok. But to be sure, if those clocks you run are the max it will go without becoming unstable then knock them down a little so its not running all out when playing games and still has a little more to give if needbe.
You say the noise is terrible when agming but what speed have youy got your fan spinning in gaming? the max I've got my fan at is 65% and that is only when it goes over 60'c and with that only peaks at 63'c under heavy load.

I will try the fans at that setting, but at 100% >55C My GPU temperature is already between 63C and 68C under load.

here's a shot of my fan setting as set up in ati tray tools. Give it a go and see what temps you get and if its any quieter. my max temps with those speeds and clock timings is 63'c

I have a Powercolor X850XT with Arctic Cooler fitted, i use Ati Tray tools to overclock it to 600 core and 628 mem, it idles at 46 and in-game will reach 80 now and then, scores 6951 in 3Dmark05.
I'm interested in this bios flashing, what (if any) benefits will i see if flash the bios to the PE version?

got the same as others in this thread, tempted to upgrade soon though, does 610/610 and scored me 7.2k in 3dmark05 so none too shabby :)

The only advantage of flashing to the PE bios is that it saves you running a seperate OCing tool all the time.

If you're running well over the 520mhz, then there isn't any point doing it :)

Upgrade to what though?
Can't think of many cards with the same bang for buck tbh.

an X1900 of course ;) im not much of a bang for buck person, i buy a card when its the fastest one available then wait until i feel im lacking behind in technology, and at this point i feel im beginning to lack behind :) i think this cards lasted me over a year now (possibly longer)

whenever the first X850Xts came out for PCI-E was when i got it anyway
