X99 motherboard previews.

I want full PCIe3 x16 slots in the #3 and #6 positions.

This is pure speculation,

That small heatsink under the socket, well manufacturers only put them there to cover a PLX chip. Now PLX chips are used to double PCI-E lanes from the CPU, so it could just be possible that the board may do 4 x 16X SLI/CF

I have merged both MSI threads together and renamed this to a general X99 thread for all the early pics from all manufactures.

With that said, here is another.

That looks stunning...

Is it just me or dose the gigabyte one have green caps on a black board lol (bottom left of the picture)

Those are caps for the audio board I believe, newer boards are having seperated PCBs for audio which has less interference from the rest of the board

They should be Nichicon "muse" audio capacitors. Look at Z97 Gaming boards or the Sniper boards, a lot of them have these "audio" grade caps too.

I thought they were for the audio where they were positioned I just meant a sort of line green/neon on a black board that has orange on it not very colour co ordinated :)

the colour is changeable according to the order obviously. But the thing is that motherboard's manufacturers think with that "not very colour co-ordinated" they can attract more buyers.

Another MSI.

The black+yellow striping reminds me of barrier tape to seal off a crime scene etc, I don't really like it.

Was secretly hoping that's how it looked, looks awesome :p

You and me, both :D

I am not sure but MSI may be advertising a water/condensation proof coating on the motherboard there. Or I am just assuming that's the case. I know Asrock did it for some of their recent boards too.
