So after faffing around for a while I decided to figure out why I keep getting boot failures every time I try to do any sort of OC with my Gigabyte X99-Sli - I have a 5820k.
Basically I have an external HDD Seagate something or other that I have had plugged in as an expansion for ages on my laptop and now PC. With it plugged in and on BIOS defaults except boot order and SATA type configured to IDE it boots to Windows (on my SSD). When I try and change any value for an OC - including the easy OC settings - or change the XMP it just would not boot at all. I couldn't work this out but I think now I have. The only peripherals I have plugged in continually are mouse and keyboard and the external HDD. Well once I unplug the HDD tada I can OC to my hearts content, I can change the XMP settings and everything else, and it boots - may or may not be stable etc but I can overclock finally.
However I want to have the HDD plugged in all the time so I'm back to stock atm without any real idea of what to do. I've tried disabling legacy USB support to no avail but I really want to be able to overclock with the HDD in. I've also moved it between USB (2 and 3) ports again no avail.
Any ideas?
