Xaser 3

I just got a xaser 3 for free off a mate, and was wondering why the panel at the front that should illuminate doesnt. What should i plug in to where?

there should be a molex connector from the front panel, which should, obviously be plugged into another molex connector

My xaser 3 is now a bedside table

'Enjoy' the case whilst you can, it wont last long (poor quality)

Well my mates had it since it came out, and its still in really good nick. only problem is a few scuffs.
Hmm looking at the front panel there isnt a molex connector, and infact theres nothing in the front panel at all :S
I'll have ot ask him what he's done with the parts!

it wont be on the outside of the panel

go inside the case, find out where the connectors for the power button/reset switch/HDD activity LED/ etc etc are coming from and your molex should be coming from the same direction, failing that, take the whole front of the case of and see where he's hid the wires

I've taken the whole of the front off and removed the perspex panel and theres nothing there! no wiring, no lights, nothin. Am i being really dense here? lol

All you guys snickering about the quality of the Xaser, it's actually pretty damn sturdy. Yeah the design may be a bit crap and *** plasticy bits are poor, but I can actually sit on mine without it even beginning to wobble or bend whereas any newer alumium case I've seen has really thin weak panels.

In fact I'm thinking about moving back into the Xaser

thats cos aluminium is weaker than steel, although supposedly it has a better conductivity of air, so a cooler PC

@OP if theres no wires your screwed, how do you start a PC without and on button?

Conductivity of air? :confused:

You mean conductivity of heat surely? And heat transfer through the chassis is generally minimal.

As for starting pcs without a power switch, all you do is short the power switch header on the motherboard. Thats how ive been starting mine for a while now as its in a semi built state.

as as HEAT is hot AIR in terms of it dissipating (convection and all that crap)

also, i suppose once he shorted it the 1st time he could change it in the bios to start up on space button press or something...why haven't you?

i prefer aluminum anywho, can lift my gigabyte 3d aurora with my 'computer' inside with one hand...cant do that with my thermaltake soprano, also, i have noticed a few degrees drop in temperature, even though they have similar cooling/size

I forgot how good it is as a chair, lianli v1000 chair is better imo, it rolls back and forth

right, i've got power cables etc, but there arent any going to the front! the power switch lights etc are there, as well as some black box thingy with a black wire coming out with a strange connector, but no molex to the front :S

convection has nothing to do with the metal thats to do with the air, convection is the movement of heat thru air in convection currents as the air heats up and expands it becomes less dense, like lighter so the lighter hotter air passes over the more dense cooler air so the hot air rises, this is why fans at the top of cases should be a good idea lol , Aluminium may be a better radiator of heat, as it has free moving delocalised electrons in it to carry the energy across,

Apparently a solid case with no window is better than a window....faraday box or something.
And about the light, looked in the manual, seems i dont have the lighting unit! i'm gonna have words with the so called mate :eek:

Are you having a laugh?!?! I've got a Xaser 3 and the 'light' is actually an electroluminescent panel (like on watches) that lights up in turquoise with the word 'Thermaltake'. It looks cheap and tacky. I removed mine and wired in some red LED's instead. you can stick a pattern on the perspex to make it look cool.

By the way, the EL panel uses a small transformer type thing (the little black box) for power. It uses an odd little black connector, not Molex, for the hook up.

Almost mate, stuff about convection is fine but aluminium is a better CONDUCTOR of heat, not radiator. Colour is the main factor in terms of radiating heat (black is better than silver or white) :cool:
