Xbone controller for PC or alternatives

Hey guys,

Recently downloaded DS3 to use a PS3 controller on my PC and whilst it was good, on occasion it would play up. The wired connection was a little dodgy (loose) and when in game if I lost the connection to the controller I had to reboot the game to get it back (F1 2014).

As a result of this I'm looking for alternatives and leaning towards an Xbox controller seeing as they're made by Microsoft they should work without fail. The 360 controllers can be found for about £20. However, I've noticed there's the Xbone controller available now for £40 (here at OCUK, best price I could find :D). What do you guys think of the Xbone controller? I prefer the feel of the Xbone controller - although I've not gamed with one - over 360 ones I've used. Although I must admit I'd much prefer a Sony I'm not sold on the drivers when using with a PC.

As implied in the title I'm open to alternatives to what's listed above. My priority is reliability because I found the PS3 controller dropping connection and occasionally dragging me into walls a massive turn off.

Edit: I forgot to mention that I have a slight concern with the Xbone controller; the wired doesn't looked fixed (mini USB?). How well does it stay in place? I don't throw the controller around but I am a bit weary following my problems with the PS3 connection.
Edit 2: I'm most likely to go for a PS4 if I ever get another console. Does anyone have any resoundingly positive experiences with the Dualshock 4 and DS4?

Yeah I much prefer the xbox 360 controller over the xbox one controller. It's bigger and feels more solid. They have gone backwards with the xbox one controller. Also the micro USB connector is a joke one of the worst decisions they have made by far.

i use the xbone controller an love it .. i bought a decent braided USB cable and its a snug fit in the controller and never comes loose

i also like the 360 controller was just a pain changing batterys halfway through gaming

Bought the Titanfall SE controller a while back when it was on offer. Bought a high power battery pack from the bay, pack of thumb grips and it's excellent. Never had a problem with the USB connector.

I use the ps3 controler wirelessly using SCP. My computer is in the hallway, and I somtimes game in the lounge on the 40", And it works fine even through a solid brick wall.

U have to flash a bluetooth dongle with new firmware (poundland?), and getting it all set up is a bit of a faff to be honest, but once its all set up, it works perfectly, and the software is nice and light unlike that motion joy crap.

edit, only thing thats a bit of a pain, is sometimes when you try to connect to your pc, it turns the ps3 on instead so I gotta unplug the ps3 lol.
