I don't know anyone with Xbone and was wondering about the need for an external HDD. On 360 you can play game from DVD or from HDD but if installed you still need the DVD to play the game (which is fine if a small PITA as you have to swap disk to play a diff game).. but on Xbone...???

I Googled and got this http://www.theverge.com/2013/5/21/4352314/xbox-one-hard-drive-game-installs

This says no need for game disc (great) but says you get charged to install a 2nd hand game and queries if you can play from disk at all. Obv this was speculation.

Whats the deal then? My son and I would have accounts on the console - do we need two copies of each game?

How big is a typical Xbone game? Just wondering to get a 2Tb external or 5Tb ;)

That article is from the original idea which was shelved.

The game disc needs to be in the console, you can add an external HDD for game installs. You can both play the game on your accounts. The sizes vary Halo is around 50Gb others 20+.

Thanks... so with 500Gb I am gonna get 10 games or more on the HDD before I need an external. That will be enough for starters... I'll hold off on external storage. Only gonna get cheaper with time

You can get an 8Tb drive for £195 now.. they used to be £220... but who cares? I dont NEED one yet so why buy one.. like your post was really necessary? Not really.

Make your account the main "home" account on your sons xbox console
Download and pay for digital games
Both be able to play at the same time, without any discs (Also unable to sell however)

You would also be able to download them only once by copy and posting over, I've done this with my gfs console. (I have a 3tb drive and feel it's never going to get filled, so I'd stick with 2 or 3tbh)
