xbox 360 and dell 2405fpw

I did try with the VGA and assuming the 360 didnt switch the signal from 1080p to a lower setting without me changing it, it looked naff.

I give it another try in a little bit and let you know.

 The 360 doesn't do 1080p yet does it? I thought that was comming on a later release.

The Autumn Dasbouard update will.

Benny's getting confused with his p's and i's :p

VGA is much better IMO but make sure its the official M$ one... I've tried the cheaper VGA cables to find washed out and ghosting images :(

there was a massive thread on another forum about this. i was on composite before and in pgr3 at 1080i it was bad, jaggeds everywhere.

u have to trade. u either get a clearer picture on vga and high image quality but then u sacrifice the richer colors of composite.

also in novemeber ms are gonna release a update making the xbox 360 support 1080p and i think they are upping the vga resolution to 1920x1080, meaning i will definately stick with vga.

also does anyone know how to adjust colors in vga mode on the 2405?

composite does not display 1080i. No wonder it was bad.

found the thread mate

check it out here:

http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=973982&highlight=xbox360+2405fpw

from one of the posts on that thread:

Final conclusion - the 2405FPW doesn't support component HD from the xbox360. It takes it down to 480p and then brings it back up again, like Dell said.

Proof
Original test image: http://www.itworks.com/hdtv/itworks-HDTV_720P.png
Test image on X360, 480p: http://www.weavo.net/x360/480.jpg
Test image on X360, 1080i: http://www.weavo.net/x360/1080.jpg

There's a slight difference in quality, but the "HD" shot isn't anywhere close to 720p.

also the main reason why i dont use composite is cos i play a lot of project gotham 3 and for some reason at 1080i on composite it looks terrible, like this.

I'd l;ove to see some comparision shots of VGA and component....

there u go mate, check on the first page, put a picture in

I have tried both and have allways gone back to the component cables, much richer colors and a pin sharp image. I for one vote Component but ultimately its what you think looks better is the one you should choose.

The jagged edges from component seem to show up more in some games than others.

Just been playing Fight night and had no probs afaics but when playing PGR3 i can really see them.

Guess i'll be getting a VGA cable what with the update comming and all.

Is it best going with the Official M$ ones? Or other..?

Cheers guys! :D

so true, component in pgr3 looks terrible but in fight night 3 and other games it looks fine...

Yeah if anyone has time. I would'nt mind seeing these either.

I currently have a madcatz vga cable. I don't want to spend another £20 and be disapointed.
