xbox 360 and iPod

ok has anyone else tried to use this?? it seems its about as useful as the backwards compatibility. complete crap.
I plugged my iPod into the 360 (as MS say you can do) it didnt find any file names etc, could do owt. So when i disconnected it and went to use the iPod later, no music?? wtf??
hooked it up to my pc to sync again, lo and behold it wont sync, iTunes said ipod knackered try running the update and see if that fixes it.
So wondering if its just me or if MY just buggered this up as much as the backwards

Works perfectly fine here, as does the backwards compatability.

strange :s i know its not an ipod but the gfs fancy mp3 player worked a treat and had all names etc..

Check Marketplace, think its under 'Game Downloads' >> 'Alphabetical list of games' >> 'optional iPod support'

Can't see that not having it would have wiped your iPod though. Just unlucky I think.

Ohhh i shall try the plug in,
It may have screwed it since it couldnt read the data right, thing just seems like it got sorrupted

Does it work with AAC/Apple Lossless, or just MP3?

mine worked with mp3 with no update, update says it supports AAC will have to try it out

just out of curiousity, can you play music from an external USB 2.0 hard drive???

NAh u wont be able to, the 360 doesnt support apples DRM, i know that much lol
And the update warns you about that oo, i think

It'll read AAC off of an iPod or memory card, but it won't do iTMS purchases.

Apple will not let any 3rd party apps read their protected DRM files

My ipod is connected and plays AAC/mp3's including playlists on my ipod

my ipod mini worked a treat on the first attempt. no need for the update unless you encode your tracks in AAC format.

Yes. Effectively that's how the USB support works for all connected devices ie if it can be seen as a hard drive, regardless of whether it's a camera, an mp3 player or a real hard disc, the 360 can read it's content.

You can play MP3's from any external USB source I believe.

i have an archos gmini 202 XS 20gb, just USB it to the xbox, plays all my music great, it wouldnt regonise my playlists so i create new folders with me selected tunes in it and play all the folder, its great flying aroun PGR3 with some mint tunes going, and its also got all my pictures on, which i can view, im not to fussed about downloadable content so i cancelled my xbox hard drive order
