im thinking of getting a cheap xbox 360 as a spare second one, so i dont buy the wrong one, if i bought a core (non hdmi) xbox 360, can i ouptput hd games at 720p to my plasma if i connect it with the official vga cable ?

should be simple enough for someone to answer, i was just caustious as i dont want a console that only outputs SD gfx .

When you say cheap are you talking second hand or brand new? because the new slimmer arcade replacement comes out soon for around £150. If your not interested in the new one atleast wait for the replacement and you might get a better deal on the old one.

BTW, consoles often don't play games at HD, just stretch them out. For example, the native resolution of MW2 on console is 600p, although it can be stretched to 1080p it is not true HD, so it doesn't really matter!
