My date/time on my Xbox 360 constantly resets to defaults when the machine has been off for a few hours. Is it because I don't have a hard drive or something or do these use a 2032 battery like pc motherboards do and it may be dead? Or something else?

Suggestions / help appreciated :)

Just did a quick Google. Mainly people say that when it's unplugged from the mains for a certain amount of time, you lose date and time. When you plug it back in and the go on Xbox Live, it automatically updates itself.

I am fairly sure the 360 does not have a integrated CMOS chip (like ps2 and pcs etc) that stores information while the console has no power.
Is it possible your machine is not connected to LIVE (I know the 360 corrects it's time as soon as it connects to LIVE, so most people would not even notice, assuming they are connected with a WLAN/LAN adapter connected to an always on connection)

Mine is plugged into the mains and connected to Live and has been off for weeks at a time and not suffered this problem.

When it's off I tend to turn it off at the mains rather than just the console itself, so I guess this could be why. Gonna have to shift plugs around I think to keep it turned on at the mains and see if that helps. I'm not connected to Live either, since I don't use it. Cheers folks!
