Have a laptop that is wirelessly connected to the internet. Is it possible to connect the xbox 360 to the laptop via ethernet to get on xbox live? Looking to save a bit of cash not buying the wireless bridge adapter.

Thanks for the quick reply. So it's simply a case of connecting the xbox and enabling ICS on the laptop? Can't connect to the router as it's downstairs and the laptop upstairs. My son is getting the xbox for Xmas and it'd be good if he could get online without having to use the main tv downstairs :D

I used to use ICS on my old XBox 1 and since networks in theory are platform independent I see no reason why it won't work on the 360.

You won't necessarily need a crossover cable. I believe the Xbox ethernet port is auto-sensing, so it will swap the pins electronically if required.

Really? I remember my 360 gave me grief when I tried it with a normal one...took me forever to figure out that I might need to use a crossover one.

Of course, it's always possible I was being daft some other way! :p

could have been the other end that was having problems and not the xbox... could be the answer to that that problem xeno
