Xbox 360 graphics

When i played CoD2 i was getting around 50fps i think maxed out in 1280x1024 with only 2xAA/16xAF, ran great, on ATi cards you can get a little boost by while playing, just press ESC and go back to the Graphics options, and turn the SLi setting on, can't remember what its actually called now, Optimize for SLi or summit, anyway its something for SLi i know that, and you get a bit of a boost when you go back to the game for some reason.

Using an x1800 XT 512mb btw.

It *should* run on high settings for you as well.

cant because theres no point.. all the games are built to support that platform and will never require an upgrade.

I run cod2, 1280x1024, everything set on full/max, and i only get the tiniest bit of slowdown on some areas, barely noticeable.

Well thats the point.

When us pc gamers are using more up todate hardware we will be gaming at higher quality with better gfx..

The xbox will be so dated its unreal.

The xbox is already dated now.Its stuck in time with no where to go.

Just like the PS2,GAMECUBE,MEGADRIVE ETC...

Technology moves that fast i'm afraid consloles have a short life span everyone of them.

The 360 maybe good now but in 18 months it will be an antique in technology terms.

Games will look dated and the controller system is already really limited in view of how one can customise a keyboard and mouse.

well when you say "Us PC gamers" that includes me too as i own a moderatly high end pc.. 3500 Venice @ 2.5Ghz, 1GB OCZ DDR and a Leadtek 7800GTX. i prefer gaming on my pc.. but what i cant for the life of me understand is why people are so adament that the 360 has to be compared to a PC :confused:

theyre were never designed to compete with eachother.. i see what your saying with the technology in the 360 becoming outdated.. but thats in comparison to PCs which is an invalid comparison as these two platforms cannot be compared. the Xenos GPU.. Tri-Core IBM CPU.. all of this is designed so differently to a PC that no'one can know how good they are in comparison. the two just cannot be compared.

They can be compared. Quite easyily.
The same way that GCs, PS2s & Xbox's are compared, despite them having 3 completely different architectures. Or the same way that Macs are compared to PCs (when they used PPC Chips).

Just because the 360 uses 3 CPUs & a GPU doesnt mean that its not comparible to anything PC wise.
If it wasnt comparible, then why do people compare PowerMacs to PCs? Considering a 360 is basically a PowerMac with a fancy video card. Architecturally speaking.

The fact of the matter is, that regardless of how they have been 'designed', they ARE comparible.
You can argue it in all manor of ways, but they are comparible.
The original xbox was 'designed' differently to a normal PC, but they are still comparible. Just because the 360 uses PPCs rarther than x86's doesnt mean that it cant be compared anymore.

well.. i supose i see your point in terms of performance. but i just think that because they are made differently etc and that the render everything differently that it wouldnt be possible.. but i supose people compare AMD CPUs to Intel CPUs and ATI graphics cards to NIVIDIA ones so i supose its pretty much the same thing.

In a couple of years time maybe that will have changed, but at the minute its performing no better than a single core 2-3ghz CPU and 9800pro level gfx.

U do NOT i repeat do NOT need a keyboard and mouse for a console i mean fs come on. Why do u honestly need a kb & m??? "ooo fps are better with em" yeah alright then if ure just complete crap at the game. Like most things u adjust to using it, like u all did when u started using a mouse for games. Its a level playing ground now every 1 has the same hardware and i for one love the 360 contoller :cool:

Can't be arsed reading the topic but PGR3 didn't have the full AA treatment because the developers got the final development kits / specification too late to implement the technique for free AA at the full 720p.

They wont render things differently though. Far from it.

I think there was a lot of contravery going around at the time of its launch on what was contained within the heatpipes of the coolers for the cpu/gpu. (is it a type of gas or water). I *think* its water (although googles your friend on that one). It isn't proper water cooling in any sense of the word though.

Umm U do NOT i repeat do NOT need a keyboard and mouse to play games on a pc... u can buy pads for the pc, u can even use the 360's pads... the fact that no1 does for fps's kinda speaks for itself does it not? I control my pc/media centre via remote and I could if i wanted to, buy a joypad, sit back on the sofa and play games. I just choose not to

Anyway im sure the box will have its own overpriced keyboard and mouse one day

I'd love it if they could someday, allow pc's and consoles to play online together. Ya'll would then see how much difference a mouse makes

This could go on for ever but sit back and think about it... the only advantages an xbox really has over modern pc's (games wise) are compatibility, price, and range of games. THE END.

And of course a mouse is better but a pad isnt difficult to use is it? I dont see the problem, as people have said its totally different things. If u really cant play with a pad then dont buy a console problem over :rolleyes:
