Xbox 360 HDTV or computer monitor?

All of them basically say "RGB enabled scart sockets". Is this the individual red, green and blue plugs that you plug the component cable into?
Er... no. They are RGB Scart sockets.

Also, what resolution is the best out of the three? I have read that the 360 needs to downscale 1440x900 to the closest resolution of 1280x720 (720p). So i was thinking that the Goodmans LD1928w would have better picture since its resolution will still be downscaled, but not as much as the other two.
The TV would upscale (not downscale) a 1280*720 signal to 1440*900. If the 1366*768 has VGA input then get that as the 360 can output at 1360*768 via VGA.

I know they don't all have it, but most, especially non budget, HDTVs have VGA ports.
I didn't mean VGA port, my TV has one. Just component is much better on that TV than VGA is.

£15 KVM switch sorts that out.
Yes it does, but a KVM also limits the quality of the picture. I myself use a £50 D-Link KVM and I still get image interferance, my friend uses a much cheaper £15 unit and his is worse.

No, those are RGB Scart, those are the yellow, white and red.
You need a 'component' socket, which is Red, Blue and Green.

RGB Scart = SD. Component = HD. [/QUOTE]

Ok i think i understand it now.

@Kreeeee: If i got that TV and used VGA, then would it not be better getting a widescreen computer monitor instead of an HDTV since i wouldn't be using component?

For your price range a 20" LCD monitor at 1680*1050 is probably your best bet.

Ok thanks. What would be the highest resolution i could get out of the 360 at that size of screen?

Will that resolution work ok will all the games? Cause i have read problems with PGR3 in particular about that it can only be played properly at 1024x768.

PGR3 has no problems in any Widescreen resolution. Any decent widescreen display will do you.

Ok thanks. Just got into it so im glad that it will work. Would it be better getting a 19" instead of a 20" because 19" monitors have a native resolution of 1440x900 and the max resolution i could run would be 1360x768. Whereas the 20" is 1650x1050 and would need to scale more to 1360x768. Dunno if thats correct but thats just what i thought would happen. If you could shed some light on that then that would be great. Thanks.

Wrong. At some resolutions the aspect ratios of the cars are rendered incorrectly resulting in them lookig taller than they should. It doesn't affect gameplay but to say there are no issues is a lie.

That is only in 4:3.

Basically is VGA better than component for the 360?
I don't think that's necessarily relevant, because there's TFTs with component inputs and LCDTVs with VGA inputs. Which will look better will vary from screen to screen.

In my experience though I would say that an LCDTV is better than a TFT PC monitor for a 360 though. I get much better colours and a brighter picture on my LG 32" 32LC2D than on my Dell 20" 2007WFP, pus the picture is obviously a lot bigger and it's more comfortable to use, since playing console games sat at a computer desk doesn't feel right to me. I did use my 360 with my 2007WFP for a few months before buying my LCDTV, and it wasn't bad, but as soon as I got the LCDTV there was no doubt which was the better experience and which gave the better picture.

I use the official MS VGA cable btw on my LCDTV. A lot of LCDTVs have really good VGA inputs.

Can I also ask a quick resolution / settings question:

Ill be using a Samsung Syncmaster 913B (21") to run a 360 through.

The max resolution is 1268 x 1024 (iirc), will this give 360 games enough to work with? or will I see squashing and other issues as its not a big hdtv?

Much appreciated

This the trouble i found had a dell 2007wfp cracking 20" lcd but it honestly sucked with the 360 going through it as it never used the native rez of the tft, i got the AOC lcd tv that overclockers sell for £299 and its superb far better image on the 360 through that than on the dell tft, in fact the 360 looks better on this tv than me bro's far more expensive sharp jobbie.

My experience with a 19"lcd that had rez of 1280x1024 you had borders top and bottom all the time which kinda peed me off.
