Xbox 360 headsets

Already been covered, the Xbox headset doesn't work too well around your neck

Make voice output to the headphones and just have the mic around your head aswell? I could easily wear both if I wanted.

I know what I'd rather have, personally I use 5.1 speakers but if I had to choose between a "gaming" headset and proper headphones then I know what to go for.

I would rather be comfortable and actually be able to hear people speak than have perfect sound reproduction. You can't move around with it round your neck and it tends to feel like it's strangling me if I do have it on.
The volume controls on the xbox dashboard are inadequate for balancing the volume of game and speech without adjusting the game volume (which I don't really want to do because it means setting it to about 20% while the dashboard and tv stay on normal levels). I have Sennheiser PC151s (with broken mic now :() but before it broke it was still too much hassle to fiddle with stuff

An audio splitter for optical out when using HDMI should have come with your elite. Try taking it back to the shop maybe =/.

Absolutely ridiculous really, why these don't come with all the consoles I don't know. I know McDaniel had to pick one up from America when he was there, but I've not seen one over here.

I have a very good friend on Overclockers who has loaned me his else wise I'd be having to do what Kreeeee (IIRC) has done, stripping my Component/VGA cable from it's plastic sheathe to make it fit.

Really poor show on Microsofts part, they surely could have put the HDMI port in a far more accessible area.

Got my X1's now, pretty pleased. Theres a fair amount of wires to plug in but the main line to the TV phonos is 16 foot long.

Can hear loads more in COD and more definition to the sound so you can a sense of sound distance and direction and far more bass than my LCD TV. GTA was great too, can hear the voices far clearer and cop reports when you commit a crime. In both games there are many sounds I have never heard before. The voice and audio works perfectly and the headset was fine for 2 hours use as the cups are comfy and its lightweight.

Only issue is a bit of humming at higher volumes which you only really notice when the game is close to silent. I have the phono splitters connected to the TV then the VGA from the Xbox goes into that. Im not sure if I disconnect them from the TV it may reduce the humming or failing that a simple ground loop isolator. Its nothing too bad though and no worse than the Xbox hum (which you cant hear now :D) and you wouldn't have it loud enough for the humming noise if you like your ears working as they do now. Only gripe would be the mic mute isnt on the puck but on the main line control box, apparently making sure that is hanging loosely rather than resting on something can help the humming. I didnt really try to kill it off too much last night as I didnt really notice it in a game.

Pretty good solution for what I wanted and not too bad at the money. I imagine the X4's are pretty impressive. Cant wait to try out some S&D on COD4 with the usuals. :)
