I forgot to mention that before the 3 years was introduced I cut the plastic grills off the back to make it quieter. :p

Unless they'll take it back after that which I doubt

Gah, bad luck mate... although I couldn't quite help but chuckle at your misfortune :p

They don't send you a box any more. You are sent an email with the UPS tracking details and you have to call and arrange collection. You have to find a suitable box and pack it yourself.

If you've modded the case or removed the warrenty sticker ... then the warrenty is void, having said that Microsoft usually repair regardless of mods or stickers, I had a friend who sent in a sprayed 360 (pimped out), got it repaired and I think they even gave his case back.

Chances are they'll repair/replace it.

Out of curiosity when was the 360 made and what error does the 3rod give you when you sync and eject?

There are a lot of D.I.Y. fixes for 360's, such as X-Clamping and revamping new cooling ideas.

The towel trick is only a temporary fix, x-clamp replacement (I've seen 3 methods going around) seems to provide a more lasting fix.
Since you've modded the case nothing to lose trying it!

Well, his warranty is broken so if he does the towel trick then it could last until the Elite is out here.

Hopefully when the Elite is out here the new HDMI premiums will be so he can buy one of them.

il get him to check his mail, thanks.

They replaced mine even though I had vandalised the back whilst opening it to regrease the chips. I think they are getting sooo many shipped that they dont even open the boxes.

My warranty sticker was long gone, several pins broken and screwdriver marks on the plastic. Replaced no problem.

Just ring em up and keep sctummm about the mods.

EDIT: this was 2 weeks ago BTW so the policy is current.

i dont get it i play my 360 a lot and its a luanch one and its still alive.... should i be gettin worried about it dying on me?

Do you worry about being hit by a meteor or your arms falling off?

Mine is 20+ months old and still going strong.

My old 360 was 16 months old and never died.
'New' one is about 4 months old and is fine.

/touches wood.

I treat mine nicely.

My 4th has gone!!! Hows that feel! :p

Don't even play it much, this one died after 25mins of play...

As they say, it'll be "5th time lucky" ;)

so u have like 4 dead 360's lying around ** house? or u sent it off 4 times to be fixed?

someone on ebay buys dead 360's and repairs then and sells them again or uses them for parts depending on whats wrong with it.

maybe give that a try with dead 360's u have lying around? :p

and y not just give it a try with sending off a case modded 360? aslong as its not a firmware modded 360 im sure they wouldnt really care...

A quick update.

Have readup on it and decided I'm going to give the Xclamp a go :)

one thing. I've got my 360 on the desk and have it lying down, just turned it on and left it running to see if the flashing lights changed.

After about 2 minutes the patch where one of the xclamps would be was quite warm and I can smell a faint burning smell from the back of it...

Hmm...interesting :p.

To be continued!
