Xbox 360 on Watchdog

I nearly cried at the tale of the lad who has to clean pigeon poo to buy xbox games, such a moving tale. Glad to see BBC journalism remains at a high standard.

My 360 went back a few weeks ago due to RROD it came back with a new MB and new DVD drive. I had been having issues with Dirty Disk Errors and marks on my disks after being in the console. GOW2 for example had only been in 2 places in its life. the packaging and then the console, until I got a DD error.

I took it back to game they cleaned it and it worked. So I ought a disk cleaner and every time I got a DD error I cleaned the disk. I think the drives not only suffer from Vibration errors (Miss K's 360 put a trench in the GH4 disk when we had a family "Jam") but also from parts cannibalism (as in my case). I also wondered how they knew it had a faulty drive as I had not reported it, good of them to test (or assume it was on its way out)

My 360 scratched 2 or 3 of my games. I ended up paying around £3 for a guy on fleebay to fix the disks for me. Never new how it scratched as I never moved the console.
Ahh well. My radiator is the thing of the past now :D.

Only had one scratched game and that was Fifa 09 when I moved the shelf my 360 was on and it tilted down and my 360 was at 40 degree angle and it scratched, got the disc repaired for £3. Thats with having a 360 since launch.

I've had about 12 different 360s. None have scratched discs except once when I moved it when the disc was spinning.

When I had my 360 standing, it scratched my burnout revenge disc. I put the 360 down flat and used that scratch repair stuff you can get from most pc places and never had a disc scratched since. And my disc works too.

I have had my 360 for a month or two and never had it scratch a disc. Also I have had my PS3 for a couple of years and that has never scratched a disc either.

I know this is completely pointless and irrelivant - I just never get why people insist on posting how they have never had the problem which is being discussed!!!

I haven't had scratching as such. But what i have had it cracking from the center hole.

I dont put my games back in the case, i put them in a cd wallet. My friend does the same.

Over time, we have had the same games crack from the center hole. Gow 1 and 2, halo3, forza 2 and there are a few others.

Is this due to heat do you think?
