Xbox 360 or PS3??

PS3, fantastic system.

it has blu-ray.
easily upgradeable HD's.
free on-line and as good as LIVE.
built in wireless.
browser.
the better exclusives and not region locked.
the Zebra Theme, it's hands down better than any Theme on 360 (one of our cats sits for minutes at a time just watching them).


360, quite unreliable system.

very expensive HD upgrades.
expensive wireless adapter.
expensive games on demand.
need to buy charger for joypads or battery.
noisy.
each user must pay upto £40 a year if they want to play on LIVE with a specific user name i.e. a family of 4 who all want to play LIVE with there own user names could be paying upto £160 a year for LIVE subs.


for all the obvious reasons in favor of PS3, my 4th 360 (RRoD) is the system of choice every time. is it down to the better joypad or the achievements?

360 gets my vote.
 
If you watch films and want a blu-ray player, go for the PS3. If you don't, go for the xbox, it's a lot better value for money.

There's a lot of people on these forums that seem to have both, but if you're not a serious gamer, why would you want both?

I asked this question a couple of weeks ago and everyone said 'get both' but then it's a lot of money to spend just for gaming.

Well you say "it's a lot of money to spend just for gaming" but is it?

if you like gaming and have the money then why not, there are worse things you could spend your money on.

A console these days is the price of 5 new games, a mid range video card or 3 or 4 good nights out.

Go on treat yourself ;)

If you're not a serious gamer? Would you really care that much which you bought then? Does it matter that you don't get cross game party chat on the PS3, or that the Xbox costs to play online?

If you aren't serious, surely the only way of working out which is the better choice for you, is to look at which console has the most games you like the look of?
 
As a fan of both: If you like media(divx movies, blu ray) and single player games get a ps3
If you like MP games with good lobby systems and friends chat get a 360.

Thats how i use mine.
 
I own both and use them on a HDTV there isn't much difference in the quality of games.

I think you need to ask yourself what games do I prefer and what console are they on then ask yourself

if Bluray is must for you get a PS3

if a better online experience is for you get a 360

as for the bluray reasoning, its old news these days. As you can buy a player + 360 for same price as the PS3. It is soley down to exclusives and the console your friends own now. And which you think is prettiest of course :D
 
For the games you say you'll be playing I'd say the 360 without a doubt, make sure you look at the PS3's exclusives however just to make sure as some are excellent.
