Hi all, here is the problem most of the time before I turn on the tv I turn on the 360 by the controller and it won't actually turn on till I switch on the tv then it will boot up n sync the controller. It's a strange problem, is this a fault with the xbox, the tv or a feature?

I might take it back because I've put up with it for a very long time would be the second time I've taken it back to the supplier but the first time was about the fans not shutting off when I powered the unit down (wasn't downloading or charging the controller).

I'd like to get my self a jasper unit elite and it's less than a year old so what should I do with the 360?

You need to see what you're doing to be able to use it so I don't see why you would take it back to the shop purely on the basis that you need the TV on before it will start up. :p

It's not as if it switches off when you turn the TV off.

Perfectly normal, my 360 does it, just switch the TV on first, it's only like 10 seconds anyway from on to usable on the 360.

Mine is hooked up with HDMI, but I've never noticed it doing this. I'll have to try it when I get home.

Maybe it's because the TV is always on standby.

Mine does the same it's normal.
A bigger pain is when you reach for the remote to turn the volume up during a race & knock the prog button causing the 360 to reboot. :(

Huh. Mine doesn't do that. I've been letting a hired driver do some of the R1 races for me on Forza 3 (I know, I know, I suck at R1) while I watch the TV and it doesn't seem to care that I've switched the TV source away from the 360.

Mine doesn't do that. That'd be real bad if the 360 switched off if you changed AV channel.

Mine doesn't do that either Malc. I think that it is all dependant on what model of television you have.

not quite the same issue I don't think but mine is connected via VGA and won't turn on if i press the xbox button on my wireless pad while the play and charge kit is plugged in. as soon as I unplug the play and charge cable it's fine

360 Does this with some TVs, PS3 doesn't (both over HDMI). Not sure why, maybe a conflict with differing versions of HDMI (between PS3 & 360) and/or the TV.

The TV it did this for me on was a Panasonic Viera LCD but it didn't do this on a Hitachi, Phillips and Sharp TVs I had.

same for me, not really a massive issue nor does it warrant me sending the xbox back, not for the sake of an extra reach forward for the power button!

Well it's only for the point that I expect these things to work properly when you buy em mate and to be honest would like a nice new jasper unit. Thank you for everyones input glad I'm not
the only one with this problem I did try to google it and had nothing decent or relevant come back.

Im prettty sure its not your xbox, some tvs and amps have powered hdmi even when not in use some shut down the hdmi port if its not being used.

If the xbox doesnt detect the tv over hdmi it doesnt boot and will power down after like 5 mins.

My super Famicom + Super Wild Card used to do this when I used it on my Phillips 8833-2 monitor:p
